On the '04 V70, there are 2 trip odometers. I use these pretty extensively, especially when on a long trip. Mine (both) keep resetting themselves without any adjustment from me or the wife. It seems to happen at fairly high mileage, and last time I notice it did it was when I cut the engine to fill up with gas. Don't know if filling up and the "auto reset" is related. Just that it's very annoying and makes one take out a paper and pencil to continue the log begun for the trip. I tried a search here and read that for S60 and S80 there was a "software fix" for the odometer resetting at 600+ miles, but don't know if this is my problem or not. Any help would be appreciated. Otherwise, the car has absolutely no issues and was a pleasure to drive, getting about 30mpg on the way to and from the beach, a 900+ mile round trip!

MIJ,
My remark will be absolutely no help at all (never heard of trip meters resetting themselves) but you may find it amusing:
Perhaps your trip meters have heard "The Scientist" by Coldplay?
Mea Culpa.

LOL....I've heard it, but have not allowed the V70 to hear it...maybe the sound leaked out of my iPod ear phones during the trip??

Got a '97 850 one to fit (exact length with exact markings) and so I was able to avoid a new dipstick AND tube. While I was there, I inquired about the software fix and sure enough. Funny how being around for a fairly long time doesn't awaken you to every quirk our cars have. Learn something new everday. And yes, it was around 660 miles or so. Noticed it when I filled up with gas, so like said above, it had crossed the threshold and was not just coincidence. Anyway, the car's scheduled to receive it's download next week!

Thanks Jim,
However the car runs so well, I can't think of any complaints right now. If you can add a list of "upgrades," then I will do just that. I've already had the tranny upload and bad engine mount done about 2 weeks ago. I did however have a bad windshield washer motor replaced about a year ago...guess that's about it.
Regards,
MIJ

So JRL, what would be a good list of complaints to get all updates?
