Ok, so I don't have the key for the wheel locks on my car. The key didn't come with it when I bought the car, so now I'm stuck. Does anyone know any tricks to get the locks off?? I know about smacking a socket around it and trying to get it off that way, but the lock is really close to the wall around it (the rim) and I don't wanna scratch it too bad. So does anyone know any other tricks to get them off? I don't care about destroying the locks, i'm just gonna put an OEM bolt in it's place.

Your car should have come with the locks.... if not the dealer has a master key set or should get them off for you since they lost the key but you should have one with the lugs that go with your spare tire lugs.

Re: Tricks for getting off wheel locks with no key?? (R_Rated)

Yea, I ripped the car apart trying to find the key (glove box, spare tire cubby, baggy with wrench, behind the little doors that flip down to replace the tail bulbs) and came up with nothing. Hopefully my dealer will be able to provide me with or order up the correct key. I just wanted to try and get them off myself....Don't really trust anyone other than me taking a drill or cutting tool to my car other than myself, because if I do it and mess something up, it's kind-of ok, but if someone else does it.........

If they are "Volvo" locks they are manufactured by McGard. You can order extra "keys" from them but that usually requires sending in the registration card that comes with the locks.
Take it to your dealer, they'll have the McGard key to fit and then from there you can figure out which key you need to order I believe.
The lock # may be visible on the lug bolt once you remove it (they don't put it on the face of the lug bolt), or the dealer may be able to give you the key #.
http://www.mcgard.com/automotive/

Stagg- Like I said though, it looks like there is not enough room to get a socket in the little gap between the bolt and rim

Gator Grip socket. There are little pins in the socket that conform around rounded bolts, etc. these pins can actually get into the pattern on the Wheel lock. I heard there were a bunch of wheel thieves using these sockets to steal wheels a few years ago. If you can find one, try it out, might be worth it.

Same thing happened to me, my dealer had a master set, but they didn't fit the '06 for some reason. Looks like you got an '04 so hopefully......... Otherwise look in your documentation as suggested for the McGard registration card, there should be a 6 or 8 digit number. Call McGard they're located in Orchard Park, NY.
Give them that number, I got replacement keys next day here on the left coast. BTW the dealer claims there are only 4 or 5 different designs that are used by Volvo.
http://www.mcgard.com/default2.asp
-Dan

I about drill it out with some good grade steel drill? First with a 5mm and then graduadly upp to lets say 12mm. The 'head' of the lock would pop-off. It would take a while..
