Hey Guys,

While I was surfing Volvospeed's website I decided to check out their links and ran across a very interesting Guy under Enthusiast sites "Volvo 850 R Homepage".

His name is Emil and his website is www.emilsvolvo.com. Emil has been nice enough to display his car and provide some very detail information on his 850 R mods.

I most admit I have not had a hard time locating performance engine parts, but performance transmission upgrades has been a task.

Here is a list of some of his tranny mods: valve body, torque converter, super pumps, transmission kits, and transmission oil pan protectors.

Ya, that guy's list is pretty impressive, i know where to get MOST of those parts, but super pumps? what are those?

Impressive? Emil's list? Hmm..maybe just the audio apsect of the car. The rest...hmm...

The audio's really nice, what are you comparing it to, Kai? Your car? HAHA... you're biased by your car's superiority

Personally, I would have stopped at the Torque Converter... which I have, and it makes a reasonable difference.

My car is not superior. It's the modifications of his car that puzzled me, that's all. I hope you can understand what I mean, but maybe not. It's okay.

I wonder what that exhaust sounds like...? I have yet to hear the 5cyl with a loud exhaust. The iPd is pretty quiet unless you roll the windows down and then its nothing but nice baaaaassy notes fill the cabin

Hmm..I used to thought my fart can sounded kinda r1cey even with the additional Ultra Flow Dynomax muffler. But the other night, I was complimented by a friend of mine that it sounds more like a beefy turbocharged 6 cylinder.

Not sure....maybe some other members who have heard of my exhaust can tell me. I kinda like how my cousin's 850 now sounds with the SuperSprint dual muffler system.

I always thought IPD was supposed to be louder unless comparing to single muffler system by Supersprint, but after I've been driving the car for few days...I now think otherwise.

Uh, it sounds good. I can't really remember. I do remember Rob's car having a distinct sound coming from the rather short exhaust system.

I really liked the sound of that car. Almost a V8-like tone, but not as loud. I was following that car when we had that back roads "cruise", so I got to hear a lot of it. What does it sound like now, and what exhaust did it used to have?

At that time, he only had one 'Blowmaster' on his car. I thought it was so-so, kinda trashy. Actually it sounded the best when he only had one Dynomax Ultra Flow on. Pretty deep and muscular tone, but the droning can get to you sometimes.

Now the car sounds very refine. A bit too wussy sounding if you ask me. And the some of the mid range power to rest of the high end has greatly decreased. You could feel the car was suffering...or sounded like it. It has hard time to go beyond 4000 rpm, like it's choking or something. The low end torque was no doubt increased, but wouldn't say it was worth it.

Well, this Supersprint system was free from my friend Mike, so can't complain. He's the guy who drove that silver V70 T5M to Carlisle last year.
