I was about to flush my transmission with the IPD kit. The instructions say to disconnect the lower line, but the picture shows the upper line. So I disconnected the upper one and the fluid flooded out from the cooler. So I guess it's the lower one in the _cooler_? The one that is well nigh impossible to reach?

Re: Transmission flush - which line to disconnect? (Mika)

Okay, I figured it out. The lower line is reachable once the intake pipe from the grille to the air box is removed. Still, some spillage but the pumping action worked fine, and I flushed 10 quarts until the fluid ran clean. Anyway, I paid more for cleaning materials than what quiki lube would have charged for flushing the tranny with my fluid...
The old fluid was nasty gunk alright. I had it checked a couple of month ago by my mechanic, who said it was still clean, but when pumped out it it was just sludge. That's at 40kmi.
At test drive the transmission was shifting with a clunk at first, but started getting better. I guess it has to adapt to clean fluid; as JRL testified, his car got good 50 miles after the fluid change.
