Present positioning of the Tulane as it is positioned for the loading of vehicles in the Bremerhaven Port;

And this is a webcam view from within the past 24 hours. The blurred large ship at the very top center is most likely the Tulane.

Interestingly its next Port of Call in Belgium is the same Port it had been at immediately before reaching Gothenburg. Likely this same ship will return to Gothenburg as well before crossing the Atlantic.

Our car is coming in the thalatta, which is now moored right beside you!

Hop on over for a visit. (Reminds me of the River Cruises where the ships line up side by side and to get to the shore you walk across the planks joining the ships and walk through the lobbies of adjacent ships.)

Actually in looking at the ETA and ETD times for the two ships it looks like the Thalatta may be in port right now waiting for the Tulane to vacate the dock slot so it can start loading vehicles. Best I can tell there is only one dock set up in Bremerhaven expressly for Ro-Ro Cargo Ships to have vehicles driven on and off them. I believe Bremerhaven Port is where the majority of BMW and Mercedes vehicles depart Germany for the U.S.

(At least I can confirm it was the port of departure for my BMW that I picked up on European Delivery back when BMW was still offering European Delivery.)

Here is some helpful information for anyone who recently dropped off their car or who will be picking up and dropping off their vehicle on Over Seas Delivery in Gothenburg.

From today (May 8th) to June 8th there are only two Ro-Ro Cargo ships (roll on roll off) scheduled to arrive at the Gothenburg Port. The first is on Monday (actually today U.S. time) May 9th - the Humbria Seaways and the second is also this coming week on May 11th - the Begonia Seaways.

Likely any cars dropped off at the Factory Delivery Center after the beginning of this week until June 9th will have to await a later in June departure date.

The Tulane finally left Bremerhaven Port and is on its way to Belgium:

"The current position of TULANE is at North Sea (coordinates 53.92542 N / 7.04842 E) reported 0 min ago by AIS. The vessel is en route to the port of Zeebrugge, Belgium, sailing at a speed of 15.2 knots and expected to arrive there on May 10, 23:00."

Recently received our T8 R-design ER VIN from the dealer (purchased from/shipping to NJ*). Is there any way for me to track it's progress? Not entirely even sure at this point where it's originating from (thought the latest models would be produced in SC?), but was given an expected arrival range of 5/24-6/7 and was told it's currently "on a boat".

Thanks for any insights in advance.

If it is a XC90 or XC60 Extended Range it should be coming from the Volvo factory in Sweden located just outside of Gothenburg. I am guessing that the boat your vehicle is on is the Thalatta since if I recall correctly that ship is headed to the East Coast. The ship my vehicle is on, the Tulane, is headed to the West Coast. Both ships have loaded Volvos at the Gothenburg Port at the end of April.

Of course if it was just loaded this week then see the two ships referenced above as being the two car carriers (RoRo) ships on the Gothenburg Port Schedule for the month of May.

I would think your dealer should be able to confirm which ship your vehicle is on,

Once you have the ship name confirmed see the earlier posts on this thread as to how to track. The one complicating factor could be a vehicle being transferred from one ship to another for whatever reason and that could occur at some other European Port before heading across the Atlantic.

Update RE: Tulane

The current position of TULANE is in North Sea with coordinates 51.31673° / 3.22533° as reported on 2022-05-10 21:37 by AIS to our vessel tracker app. The vessel's current speed is 0 Knots and is currently inside the port of ZEEBRUGGE.

It appears that the ship Thalatta is still in Bremerhaven and will be headed to Zeebrugge Belgium as well.

No easily available information yet [at least to me] as to what additional European Ports these ships will stop at, if any, before crossing the Atlantic.

Interestingly did locate from the Tacoma, Washington Port Call Calendar the information that the Tulane is scheduled to arrive there on Saturday June 6th with an ETA of 07:00 and a ETD that same day of 18:00. That would indicate its arrival at its first US port of Port Hueneme in Oxnard, California earlier that first week of June after making it through the Panama Canal.

Presumably it will sail from Tacoma to Asia and then on through the Suez Canal if it follows its previous round the world routing which saw it departing Tacoma for Yokohama, Japan.

OK, this from the official Zeebrugge Port Call Calendar which shows the Estimated time of departure for the Tulane as May 13 at 22:00 having arrived on May 11 at 04:24. For the Thalatta the arrival time was May 12 with an upcoming estimated time of departure for May 16 at 22:00 (not shown here).

As to what happens next, extrapolating from several different websites this is what I have come up with as the most likely scenario:

It appears that both ships will next head to Southampton (UK) for their final European Port before crossing the Atlantic. It is estimated that it will take 3 days to travel from Belgium to the UK for each ship.

The Tulane should arrive in Southampton on May 16th and the Thalatta on May 19th.

For the Tulane it will take 24 days to reach Port Hueneme in Oxnard, California once it departs from Southampton and an additional 4 days to reach Tacoma in Washington with estimated arrivals on June 9th and June 13th respectively. (Note this is different than the previously posted Port of Tacoma Calendar which had the Tulane arriving on June 6th rather than June 13th. The source of the later date is from the website of the company operating the ship.)

The Thalatta which heads to the East Coast from Southampton is estimated to take 9 days to reach Baltimore. With a May 20th departure from Southampton it should arrive in Baltimore on May 29th. Other East Coast ports will follow.

OK, here are the above referenced dates for this week from the Zeebrugge Port Calendar:

Thanks for the "likes." I know I wasted too much time piecing together those routings and timelines. What I found particularly interesting was by following the routing of the West Coast bound Tulane with the East Coast bound Thalatta - being able to actually compare real time differences between getting a car to the East Coast as compared to the West Coast from the Gothenburg Port.

The other thing that I found of special interest was how the routing seems to be almost identical for almost all, if not all, the W&W RoRo ships that leave from Gothenburg. They first go to Bremerhaven Germany, then to Zeebrugge Belgium, then Southampton UK and then depart to cross the Atlantic.

Oh, for what it is worth I did locate an active webcam that potentially will capture our respective ships as they approach and/or depart the upcoming Southampton Port. If anyone catches a screen shot please feel free to share. (Just Google Southampton Port webcams.)

We've been waiting so long we thought about taking another trip to visit our car in Southampton! 😅

Looks like the Tulane is in a holding pattern as the distance to Southampton has already been traveled but it does not appear to have yet docked.
