Does anyone know what the thresholds are to set off the TPMS alarm? I hit a nail yesterday that went through the bottom edge of the tread and out the inside sidewall, and the tire was completely flat, yet the TPMS sensors never blipped. Even with the dinky spare tire on, I would have thought the TPMS alarm would have been on the whole time with a zero reading off the 4th tire in the back.

The best I could get was the traction control light going off as it was spinning the spare tire trying to get going on the gravel roads. The car looked pathetic with 3 20" tires and 1 lone 17" spare. Poor car. <sigh>

oh wait, you have the tpms, with the sensors, right?

Is the original tire in the car? if so try taking the tire far away from the car, if its a stuck sensor saying the pressure is always ok, the car might be reading it if the tire is close by.

My TPMS light came on the other day. I measured 25 PSI at one of the rear tires. I would prefer that it had come on sooner (~30PSI).
