i have noticed that my throttle has been a little bit touchy. for example ill accelerate and then all the sudden the RPM will shoot up 300-500 rpm and the car will jump a bit. also when i shift from 2-3 and take my foot off the gas pedel i get this drop and the car slows down some. it kind of feels liek the geartronic finally put it in gear. i have a 04 s60r gt. any help is appreciated.
thanks ahead of time
chris

I haven't had it back since (tried another dealer). I'm going to schedule another appointment to have it looked at where I can drive with the tech.

Sounds like normal torque converter lock up function to me. Or not, the GT sucks donkey balls.

Re: touchy throttle (Mika)

My GT has been in 2 times for this. (I forget the TNN) The dealer will "re-train" the tranny by putting it through the adaptation process. This process has put my car back into a crisp shifting machine. Then after that prcess is completed, drive the car like you stole it for a day or two. I treated it like an old lady the first time and the EXACT same symptoms were back in 1 month. The second time I used the "drive it like I stole it" for 2 days and all is well 4 months later. Rick

I've seen the "adaptation process" mentioned before, is this something that the dealer can easily initiate when Im there just having my oil changed? Will they charge me a fee if I request it by prefacing with a complaint about the flares?
Im just wondering if this adaptation process is something similar to a "reset" of the computer on some cars to retrain the ECU with updated components.

Quote »

your mom sucks donkey balls

Neccessary???

Re: (Tekk)

The adaptation process just resets the tranny. NOT the ecu. They will need 1-2 hours to do this. They will slowly take each gear and "set" them by doing a number of slow runs and then a few faster runs once each gear is re-trained. This should be under warranty! Rick

i've had the shift flare problems before, but never requested a fix when i took it in....it hasn't happened in a long time, though.

I have had that TNN done and it worked. This is something different.

I did mean to insult anyone's car (or mom, or donkey's balls).
I meant the transmission itself is less than perfect in its shift feel, among other things. It's hard to tell if it's broken or is the shift behavior 'normal'. GT cars can be made fast, without a question. And some of them may work fine, for all I know.

Beep ..... Beep ..... Beep ........
I wonder if you can buy a donkey for the cost of a clutch replacement that we won't have to pay for?

-Ben

Re: touchy throttle (bcantana)

Who says I have a manual? I've got a 5-speed GT and I'm hating it. If I was making a choice now, I would take the new 6-speed GT instead of 6-speed manual though. I don't have time to shift myself, I am a busy guy, as my cousin used to say.
Although, I drove stick for over 10 years, never burned a clutch, never even had to replace one. Now I'm too old to bother.

I wondered if it was because the neutered torque in our GT's was getting the better of us.
I wonder if '06 GT's, with the full compliment of torque, will start having the same problem?
