So my friend tells me that he thinks the S80 is aerodynamically limited before the 150 MPh mark. Is this true. I know there is a speed limiter at 130 because of the V rated tires. But, what is the top speed you all have gotten with the limiter removed.
I was up to 125 a couple of weeks ago (In Europe, of course) . It still seemed to be pulling pretty hard but I ran into some traffic before I hit the limiter.
So let's hear it, how fast have you gotten your S80s up to?

No it's not aerodynamically limited at 150mph. That's silly. I would imagine the T6 motor could push it faster than that in stock form. With a few mods (chip, downpipes, catback) You could probably near 170mph. The T6 is a mighty thing.

Re: (Nebor)

A S80 T6 with chip (321hk) can reach 280km/h. A stock S80 T6 can easily reach 155mph(250km/h) and then it hits the limiter.

Holy Crap, 280 kph (174 MPh)? Did you see one do that. If so, where did they do it?

Re: Top Speed of S80 T6 (luke8302)

75 MPH is the fastest I have gone. I think high speeds are for airplanes. When you have a tire blow out on you it'll make you think twice about doing something like that again.
But scientifically speaking, the motor doesn't have much to do with aerodynamic limits. Try getting my Explorer upto 150 MPH. The vehicle would lift off the ground before you could find a motor to do it.

Re: (luke8302)

on my 99 T6 the limiter is at 130, without the limiter I don't see why a stock T6 could not do over 150mph. At 130 the car rides very good and still has alot of power and gear left to take you to 150mph and up.

My 2002 hits the limiter at 130. It feels very stable at that speed. Getting there it feels like there is a lot left.

155mph should be easy in a T6. I mean, if my T5 C70 can hit 155 easily, then the S80 should have no problem. Especially with a chip.

i can get mine up to 130mph easy, but there's way too much traffic to go any faster around here. i'll wait for the "R" calipers/rotors before i attempt to go faster, i have to improve my breaking
i'll admit mines built for weaseling in and out of traffic. if you see me bombing down the left hand lanes going 80-100mph on my favorite highway, it's because the left lane has fallen asleep on their cell phones ... again
