Now i know a lot of us watch the online videos all the time, so I wanted to ask this for curiosity's sake...
Which show do you prefer?
Personally, I love both. I like Top Gear because they do great car features, Jeremy is funny, and the challenges are crazy.
Fifth Gear, on the other hand, is awesome because of the car shoot outs and Tiff is just an amazing driver. He takes those cars around the track so much more aggressively then Jeremy does. Sometimes I think that the Stig is Tiff.
Which do you prefer?

Top gear without even thinking,.. After a long exhausting week at work nothing is better than sitting back and watching an hour of top gear.
Funny, informative (in away lol), creative, and anything but boring..

Jason Plato is a pro driver as is Vicki B-H too. So, FG wins for track experience.
Also if you have a wide enough track (a runway) doing "Clarkson 360's" is a lot more forgiving.....

Which is best? I said this in another thread - neither is a serious motoring 'magazine', concentrating on exotics which are out of the reach of all but the lucky few. I sometimes think it really is just an excuse for them to thrash the hell out of £100,000 cars...
The quality of production is better on TG - some of the camera work is top notch. Entertaining? - yes, informative? - sometimes, missed? - rarely
As FG sprang from TG when the BBC axed TG, it's little wonder they are vying for the same audience. So I watch both, having watched TG from it's inception and mourned it's demise, rejoicing at the appearance of FG in it's place then getting all excited when TG returned. It took a few programmes to get into it's new format (ranks of "Joe Public", standing in a disused hangar, laughing at Clarkson, May and Hammond and 1000's of miles worth of rubber being turned to smoke in a very "laddish" programme).
Unforunately FG is heading the same way, with their laptimes board and rather pointless stunts (last week - see what extreme punishment an old Merc could survive) - they are trying to ape TG too much, I fear. They need to do something different, not the same.
But it all passes a couple of hours and it seems you guys in the US enjoy old episodes on your TV when you get them.

great reply Bob... how often do the shows air in the UK? The only way I watch them is off of YouTube.com and other websites.
and UKMatt, I know this should be in the car lunge, but this is such an active forum and responses are always nice. No harm no foul.

TG usually runs for 6 programmes per series, twice a year if I recall. I think FG is either 6 or 8 and they usually air at the same time (TG on a Sunday evening, FG during the week).
Just in case you don't know -
Fifth Gear website - http://fifthgear.five.tv/
Top Gear website - http://www.bbc.co.uk/topgear/

The best way to get the latest Fifth Gear and Top Gear episodes (in HIGH QUALITY - about 700MB per episode) is by using bittorrent.
Check these sites:
http://www.finalgear.com/
http://www.mininova.org/search/top+gear/added
http://www.mininova.org/search/fifth+gear/added

I am waiting for TG to bring Sabine Schmitz in as a presenter. If you didn't see her drive the transit van around the Nurburgring in just over 10 minutes, it was funy as she shouted at some guy on a Fireblade or similar to get out of the way!
http://www.sabine-schmitz-motorsport.de/

i agree... i've seen a lot of videos of Sabine and I was speechless.
I'd love to go to Nurburgring and ride in the BMW Ring "Taxi" with her driving.
