The shop I took it into was an independent shop, not a Volvo dealer.

At some point they realized that one of the rear bushings in the upper control arm assembly was worn and showed me under the car.

They said the labor to replace both rear control arms was 4 hrs and the labor to replace the bushings was 11 hours.

They suggested going ahead and replacing the control arms since they come with new bushings so even though the parts are more expensive, it's 7 hours less labor.

Does this all sound legit?

Ok cool. Car only has 46k miles on it, so I was a little surprised that it needed bushings this soon, but is it more of an age thing rather than miles sometimes?

47,000 miles... Is it still under warranty? If so, it would be covered. Also, there were several recall on the xc90. One of which related to the suspension. It may be worth a check.

We got it in May 2007, so it's over a year out of warranty. Anywhere to look for recalls on the suspension for the XC90?
