Re: Tomorrow (hastee)

Odd intro... even by my standards, but hey that's the beauty of free speech.
Sept 11th... the day my office fell to the ground (7WTC) w/o a justifiable cause. Hmmm...
That following year was hard as my wife and I took notice of how many of our Brooklyn neighbors had worked in one of the twin towers.
And sadly, I hold little hope that the real perpetrators will ever face justice.
RIP the thousands of fellow citizens and thousands of soldiers who have fought a false "war".

I play violent video games, i watch violent movies.
Even today when i see the clips of the planes hitting the towers it makes me sick to my stomach and makes me feel like crying.
It reminds me of how fudged up so much of the world is, and that there are too many people that dont value life as much as they should.

Re: Tomorrow (hastee)

It reminds me of good friends who barely were out of harm's way and acquaintainces who weren't so lucky. The ideaology that motivated the attack reinvigorates my support for action to go after those who support such thinking.
On the other hand, it makes me sick (physically ill) when people use an event/remembrance to make an ill-placed political comment. This isn't about the war, it is about 9/11 and the Memorial to those who died in the attacks and on the planes.

Re: Tomorrow (2k2S80t6)

I lost a cousin that worked for Cantor Fitzgerald and three friends that lived in the vicinity on 9/11. I was actually driving down Route 110 alongside the Pentagon when the plane hit the building. While I'd love to nail the ba$tards that masterminded and OK'd the plan to attack the WTC, Pentagon, etc.; this so-called "war" has been an abomination and a waste of skilled manpower, money, and resources.
RIP to those who lost their lives 9/11 and in the events afterwards.

Re: Tomorrow (2k2S80t6)

To me, it is a day like any other. Events like the WTC/Pentagon/Pennsylvania plane tragedy are tragedies on any day, but I try not to think too much about them as they are horrible. I just wonder why no one spends time to talk about the 168 people who died in the Oklahoma City bombing which was the deadliest terrorist attack before this one took its place. The media or politicians aren't pausing their campaign or news coverage in rememberance of that day.
Just by coincidence, the day I enlisted into the Army and took my oath was Sep 11th, 2003. Four years later on the same day signaled a change in the direction of my life. My first day as a guardsmen and a chance at some other oppurtunities. The day can have many meanings and I try to focus on positive meanings more than negative ones. God rest the souls of those who died in those tragic events.
The day also reminds me of one of the current VP candidates' sons heading to Iraq which I thought was a little off-color because just a short time ago, my chain of command was stressing the importance of OPSEC when we deployed and now people can shout it from the roof tops.

(moment of silence)
Anyone not remember where they were when they got the news?
It doesn't matter who you are, what your politics are or even if you agree; all our lives changed on that day, seven (can it have been seven?) years ago.
May the victims Rest In Peace, may their families find solace, may Justice be done.
DW

I think its disrespectful to start a thread like this with such garbage in the post. This should be taken with very much respect! Not talk about about people in the OTF and then mention 9/11..... UnAmerican in my opinion. That is why I didnt post my thoughts in it. Plus I figured it would have been blackholed for what was said.....

Hastee.....
I do remember exactly where I was and what I was doing. I remember the sickning disturbed feelings I felt as I watched things unfold. I am not ashamed to say that I prayed for those innocent lives that were being lost before our eyes, as my wife and I watched on TV.
I lost 2 high school friends that day....although I did not find out until 2 weeks later. I have friends who lost loved ones.
To every firefighter/EMT/police officer/port authority officer in NYC.....I SALUTE YOU and I thank every first responder accross the US (you too Cope )
We can all have our differences of opinion about our political preferences...but 9/11 was a WAKE UP CALL to the US to rethink how we protect ourselves Some of us actually did wake up...and others just hit the snooze button and rolled over and went back to their little isolated worlds.
Today especially, I think of Lt KMK 454 who is in Afghanistan leading a patrol unit. I think of EVERY SINGLE father/son/daughter/mother who is NOT with their respective families.....may you return safely to the arms of those who love you.
and oh yea...may God bless America
