Is is correct that stock was a 195/75/14? On the Tirerack, they also show a 205/70/14, which is what the car presently has on it.

After comparing a 205 and a 195 together front to back (@ Sam's club) the 195 appears just as wide. Needing to replace all 4, and after my observation, I am considering going back to the 195's just for the cost savings.

Any thoughts, pros / cons with this decision?

Re: Tires, for an '87 245 (Fester)

Hello, again, Brian.

If you want four cheap tires then WalMart/Sams is the place.

Do you plan to run the same tire in winter?

Any size from 185 to 205 will work ok but avoid 60 and lower profiles as this runs up the price.

Re: Tires, for an '87 245 (Fester)

The passenger side front door should have a sticker on the jamb that lists proper tire size. It was probably 185SR14 which is not common (some say it works out to an aspect ratio of 78, and 185/78/14 doesn't exist).

I've seen 185/75/14 and 195/70/14 as commonly used sizes on 240 wagons. In my opinion, the 205 is too wide for a 5.5" wheel that already squirms a LOT due to the tall sidewall. Go with the 195/70.
