The front tires of my 2000 S40 show more outer treadblock wear on the passenger side tire vs the driver side tire. I maintain pressures at the recommended 32 PSI and check frequently. My dealer checked 4 wheel alignment and all was in spec. Any ideas or similar situations?

Although we are right-hand drive in the UK, I have the same problem with the passenger side tyres wearing out more quickly. I've been told that it's to do with the fact that the driveshaft on (our) near-side is shorter and transmits slightly more power to that wheel. The longest a set of front tyres has lasted is 12k. The rear tires are original and still have 3mm on them.<P>The car is a phase1 S40 (pre mid-2000 I think), but I've been told that the newer phase II's don't have the same rate of tyre wear.
