So I'm getting a bit ahead of myself here, but at some point I'm just optimistic enough to believe that I'll need tires that will hold air for more than 15 minutes.

She has stock rims (as far as I know).

Any wisdom / recommendations on tires and sizing?

Thanks

Re: Tire size recommendation (tdskip)

For everyday driving at near-legal speeds, I'd stick with the original 165/15 size. You may have to hunt around for good ones -- the Kumho Powerstar is quite good for a budget price, and I think Vredstein has one that's a bit more performance oriented at a higher price.

IMHO, wider tires don't do anything much for you without matching suspension mods, and really belong on wider wheels.

Re: Tire size recommendation (Phil Singher)

Play around on this for 15" tires in the 165-185 range with 65-75 profile.

Measure the existing wheels - if they are 4" wide avoid a tire with more than a 6" wide footprint (195-60-15 is probably too wide). If the existing wheels are damaged and/or odd sizes get out your credit card and...

Use the menus on tire rack to select lowest price by size (all brands) then click the box on the ones you want to compare.

The cheap Dunlaps are a good value.
