Yeah I know that this should probabily go in the tire section but wanted quicker responses. My drivers side front tire has a slice cut through to the belt inside the tire but is still holding air. I know I have to replace it. I have 11,500 miles on the car now (BTW I have 17" wheels). Can I just replace this one tire or should I go with the two front. And, does anyone think I should replace all four due to AWD (Haldex should be ok if I just replace either one or two I would think).
Any suggestions?
Thanks all
Tom

Re: Tire help!!! (bigtomhammer)

Tom, I'd due at least 2. That way you keep either both front or both rears the same diameter.
You can keep the 1 good tire as a full size spare, or in case you loose another, then they would be closer in size.

Thanks Lee for the advise. On another topic, did MNVolvo go away? What is up with that?
Tom

Some places, like Tire Rack, will shave your new tire to match what's on the rest of the vehicle and will give you a prorated price.

Re: (civster)

Wow that is interesting. Never thought of a place doing that. Thanks for the advise but I think I am going to go with a different brand. Talked with my wife and she agrees. Only 11000 miles on them and already down to 6/32nd depth. So about half worn out already.
tom

I'd measure the other front, and see how much tread compared to new is left. If not close to new, get 2. Keep the old tire as a backup.
JMHO

Re: Tire help!!! (myxc90)

Thanks for the opinion. I did do that and I had 6/32nd left on all of the tires. Too much difference between the new and old. So I got rid of all of them and went with the Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza. I have to tell you, it is amazing what a difference a new tire can make. I had a very loud roar in the rear of the car (and thought the bearings were going out) but with the new tires, silence!! These tires are so quiet. I am sold on them. Hopefully they will last ALOT longer then the Pirellis.
Tom

Re: Tire help!!! (bigtomhammer)

Our oem michelins have 33K on them and I'll probably look for new ones after the summer, not because they are worn out, but for that very same reason. I've been happy with our last few sets of goodyears
