Just was under the car today changing the oil, and saw that the Front inner Cv boot is leaking, along with the fuel filter, and there was an oil leak around the front crankshaft..... Talked to volvo, and they said it "might" be covered under warrenty...

any update on this?

did the dealer blame it on the mods? they usually do. there is a special law in cali, im not sure exactly what it states... but modifications ARE allowed, and warranties can't be wiped out per say. the problem must be linked specifically to a modification if the dealer wishes to charge you for the fix.

I think they will blame it on the mods, but i hope they dont. If they dont do it under warrenty, im going to have a few choice words with their service department, considering that this is our 7th... volvo with them. I take her in tomarrow to find out what the damage is.. Has anyone ever had problems with the CV boot, or with the fuel filter leaking???????

Which dealer are you doing it at? I have not had really great service from Irvine Volvo. If they blame it on the mods they have to give proof of it. Check out the SEMA website. They have good info about what has to be proven. There is something that you can fill out if you feel that it should be covered under warranty. Hope this helps and you get your car fixed soon...

Thanks for advise all, but all the repairs were covered under warrenty thanks to Chris and the service department of Volvo of Orange County. I got the CV boot replaced no prob, and the oil leak was coming from something in the powersteering, so that was replaced also. So it cost me nothing!!!!!

Just for future reference guys:

quote:

Your rights to use after market parts and upgrades on your car are protected by the Magnusson Moss act, but it is not a guarantee of warranty coverage. Basically the act states that you have a right to use non-original parts on your car and still retain the factory warranty. However, if there is a failure and the manufacturer (VOLVO in this case) can show that the failure was caused by the non-original part, they can deny coverage.

Your Car, and the Law, Warranty Denied
