Hi,
I'm new here and looking at S60R's. I have allways liked them and I'm now in a position to pick one up. There is a Black 2007 with pumpkin orange interior for sale locally that I am planning on looking at and test driving, and I was wondering what sort of things I should pay close attention to while inspecting it?
Also, What are some common problem areas during ownership?
Thanks,
Curtis

There's a lot of info hear about these cars and this question has been asked many times before. Do a little homework here and use the Search button (google search) and you will find everything you need to know.
Here are other threads discussing the same thing.
http://forums.swedespeed.com/z...92725
http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=120322

Welcome to SS and best of luck with the R. If you have a link, we'll be happy to take a look at it.
With regard to common problems or things to look for........there are many. Instead of rehashing them once again, I suggest using.........SEARCH. Good luck.

It's a 2007 with 34k miles (a little high I know for a 2007) so it should still be under warranty, i'm having a carfax pulled by a friend to find out the in service date for sure.
http://dallas.craigslist.org/f....html

Very nice R, but price seems alittle to good to be true. I would ask for service records, carfax(it doesnt tell much). Before buying I would take it to Volvo dealer for 1hr inspection. Its better to spend 100$ now then 5000$ later in repairs.

Re: Things to look for when purchasing an S60R (s140s)

It was for sale for $22995 locally and on ebay, but I guess they didn't get any bites. They've had it for ~3-4 weeks from what I can tell, and i'm guessing with the slumping economy, the prices have dipped as well.

No climate pkg, but I guess heated seats are not too important down there.

VIN# is YV1RH527172608531
And yeah, I could care less about heated seats. It does get chilly down here in the winter time, but not horribly so.

Look at one of the posts below, firehawkxxx traded in his R and the dealer still has it after 8 months. Have it checked out, and if you like it get it because that is a pretty good deal.

I love dealer adverts...the "100% PURE ADRENALINE!!" is great. When I was shopping for my R, I found one site referring to the R on their lot as "Volvo's secret rocket ship!".

My advice to you on this car is take it to a Volvo dealer after you buy it and pay to have them "Certify" it and extend the warranty. It sux that it has over 25k because you fall into another price bracket.
Anyhow, 6yrs/100k total miles will probably cost you in the areas of 3500$. It is WELL worth it for repairs that you will run into the future. Don't even bother getting the car if you think you're going to do your own repairs. Even the brakes are like double the price of a normal S60 (however brakes are not covered under warranty) Get all your trim items fixed at the dealer before the regular warranty expires... and if you're persistent enough they will fix anything. I even got a door weather seal replaced because there was a small tear in it and I told them there is wind noise.
If its under warranty, frak it, just buy it and bring it to the Volvo dealer afterwards... as long as the body is straight!
So things to remember:
1- Get the extended warranty!!!
2- If it hasn't been mentioned, look under the middle of the car, there is probably a circular bracket right smack in the middle below the exhaust, get rid of it!
