On a 2005 S40, 2.4i... there is a "low washer fluid" indicator right?

Am I dreaming? No messages are showing up on my dash.

My washer fluid sprayers stopped working and I'm starting to think maybe I'm out of fluid...

I can't find an indicator for low washer fluid in the owner's manual. Also it looks like there's no indicator for a burned-out lamp. Are these cost-cutting measures designed to keep Ford out of bankruptcy?

when fluid is low the info light comes up and there's some text displayed saying the fluid is low.

Did you fill up the reservoir and see if that works?
I guess that would be the first logical step in troubleshooting, and only then I'd ask a question on this forum (but once again, it's just me

i had a problem with my reservoir a few months ago.... it was cracked (affected certain cars not only mine), so i kept filling it and nothing.. but the light always came on...

I had the low fluid level warning for the past week or two (until I refilled it) but it came on and went away very quickly every time I turned the car on. I think it popped up temporarily when I used the washers but I can't remember that for sure.

That's what I thought! But I couldn't find it in the manual... I was pretty sure, because I'm normally to lazy to fill it up otherwise

Either way there is a problem ...

Either the info light is broken or the spray pump is busted.

I thought I'll ask the obvious first haha...
I would definitely bring the problem up with the dealer though coolspot18. Do you have headlamps washer? Have you tested if those work?

OK just got home from the office - I put some fluid...it leaked all over my garage floor.

Gee - this car has been a TOTAL dud for me... I've taken it in ~8 or 9 times to get stuff repaired.

It's my first and last Volvo

and I would have spent like 30 seconds looking for a loose fitting etc and had a 99% chance of fixing it instead of crying about it. but some people like to complain and life is all misery and deity make all the other cars they have owned. Honda has a year end sale, see ya

Not so fast there. When I got my car 2 years ago, the low washer fluid message was on all the time. Rather than take it back, I attempted to find a loose conncection or something. The resivor pump, sensor, and fittings are all on the bottom and inaccessible. The car had to be put on a lift and the plastic wheel well cover removed in order to access the resivor. In my case it turned out to be a bad wire crimp on a connector from the factory. The awesome Volvo QA/QC from the factory to the dealer either failed to notice or just chose to ignore the low washer fluid message on the info display.

Yup exactly - if you guys actually own a S40 you'll realize that most of the stuff is inaccessible unless you're somewhat of a mechanic (which I'm not).

Also - 8 repairs... don't you guys think that is somewhat excessive?

Well it depends, some people can live with that, others can't. It's really up to you. If you're not happy with the car at the end of the day, then you have to switch. I'd be upset if I were in your situation too. For the most part, they're annoyances- the car will run with a wacky climate control or no side indicator on the mirror. It's not fun, but the car will get you to where you want to go. The only two problems I'd be concerned about are the steering failure and the air bag problem. I'd give it another chance- if the car doesn't run or poses a safety hazard, I'd take the financial hit and switch cars.

But you do have to realize that it still is somewhat of a new car, a European car, so you'll have more problems. Hopefully you won't have anymore problems.
