Congrats on a safe trip! The stuffed crash test dummy is a nice touch, LoL.

Wow, that's freaking awesome! Good for you to keep pestering them to have them sell it to you! That's a one of a kind man, very cool!

It's surprising how well patience and years of persuasion can get you. After 5 years of conversations I finally got my hands on a 98 c70 hpt coupe with tons of goodies thrown in. All good things take time.

Sweet!

Someone asked what the all the 'yellow' pieces were... unless I missed it, what do they signify? I'm curious.

That IS the ultimate collectible, I agree. Big time

I made a great page on my dealer's website that shows the XC90 in great detail. I spent about 6 hours cleaning it before the pics on the website and it looks so much better now. The link is: http://www.pennantmotors.com/showroom.html And, just a little plug for my dealership, the website is http://www.pennantmotors.com/

I also added a TV for a little Volvo themed entertainment.

The yellow areas signify high strength steel. They're structural elements which are designed to protect the occupants in a collision. The red areas signify ultra high strength steel. There are some explanations of it on an S40 safety cage model that I have which is painted in the same colors. I'll check them out and post all of the info.

I've been playing with my new toy a bit, and fitted some LED lighting inside so it makes it look cool at night when the main showroom lights are off. Appropriately, I used IKEA "Ledberg" LED strips.

I don't doubt that it wasn't cheap, but don't second guess yourself. You have one of (probably) a handfull of these that were ever made. It's definitely the ultimate collectible and conversation piece. I applaud your efforts. Big

I'm just going to slip this little nugget of information into this thread: I'm currently in negotiations on a second one, and this one actually runs and drives. (Well, it did when it was parked 10 or so years ago.) Don't they say, "Collect them all?"

congratulations

Very nice from you to present all this photos and efforts to xc 90 lovers and owners.
Put also some simple numbers stickers on each important chasis part and near model one simple table with photo book and explanations what numbers represents as I spot in Volvo museum in Goeteborg. Good continue with new xc90 chasis...;)

The model is actually color-coded to the car, but I understand what you mean.

I am actually picking up a more complete XC90 cutaway tomorrow which was originally a running/driving model. It has the full engine and driveline in it, but it hasn't been started in over 10 years. I plan to try to get it running. I'll post pics of that one too as I'm picking it up. It is MUCH more complete. It has all of the glass and body panels, but has holes cut in the body panels. The interior is partially finished as well.

Sounds like that would also be an excellent promotion. Maybe even parades?
