The Right Transmission Fluid for Early 2012 S60

Planning to do a tranny "drain and fill" fluid change but I got totally confused about which oil is the right one.

According to this thread: https://forums.swedespeed.com/showthread.php?629343-Transmission-Oil-Cooler-Return-vs-Incoming-Line&p=7678899&viewfull=1#post7678899

If my car is P2 model I need to use JWS3309 and if P3 - JWS3324. So being the "new" (at the time) 2012 S60, I thought my car as the P3 model. However...

According to this thread: https://forums.swedespeed.com/showt...sin-transmission-TF-80SC-in-3-2-and-V8-engines&p=7657891&viewfull=1#post7657891

I need to look at the VIN/Chassis # to determine which fluid (JWS3309 or JWS3324 spec'd), I quote:

Rule 101: Use specific spec'd fluid. JWS 3309 or T-IV for earlier version (Last 6 digits of chassis # before 568001). Fluids proven to do well are factory Volvo (p/n 1161640), Mobil 3309, Aisin T-IV, Idemitsu TLS (JWS 3309), Toyota T-IV, Ravenol T-IV. All V8s use the JWS3309/T-IV spec.

Rule 102: If your chassis # is 568001 and later, then use specific JWS 3324 or WS (stands for World Standard). Fluids proven to do well are factory Volvo (p/n 31256775), Aisin Type WS, Idemitsu TLS-LV (WS), Toyota ATF WS.
Given that my chassis # is 050616, "Rule 101" definitely applies here, and hence the right fluid is JWS 3309.

So at the end of the day, even though my car is a 2012 model, P3 (or is it?) I need to use the older type oil? I am confused. To add further to the confusion, the first thread also says that I can put the newer fluid (JWS 3324) into my (older) transmission.

My hesitancy comes from the fact that I ended up baying 12 quarts of either fluid so if I could use JWS 3309 first and later after 30K the JWS 3324, that would be ideal. But one thing I'm sure of, I can't do it the other way around.

Your car is a P3 platform car.

ChitownV's post above was in regards to XC90's only and their chassis numbers. That does not apply to your car.

You should be using JWS3324 or Aisin WS fluid.
