We've had the V70 R for almost 6 months...and the car has just finished breaking in. According to my butt-O-meter, the R when i hit the gas it feels like the car isn't accelerating quick enough. Feels like my CLK320 has a better pull when i'm hitting the gas. 300 hp R vs 215 hp CLk.... I sometimes wonder if there's something wrong with the car. Thanks
-Greg

GT or 6 speed?
If it's a stock GT it's not all that fast.
Torque is ery limited in 1st and 2nd gear plus the wagon is heavy
Get the ipd ECU stage 2 mod. All the limiters are removed, you get about 30 more NON LIMITED hp and from what everyone says, the car/wagon becomes a rocket

In your in Davis...just outside Sacramento...not San Fran? Shoot your in the mist of the worst part of the year. It's got to be in the upper 90's or low 100's in the north San Juaquin Valley. Take it into the city for dinner, I guarantee you the car will pick up some more hp.

yea it's the GT...we got the extended warranty until 100k, so don't want to do any mods. You would think the R would be faster then a 3.2L CLk....feel kind of dissapointed

Also true, these car HATE the heat and lose about 20-25hp when it's over 85 outside.
Try getting on it very early in the morning, like 6 AM (as soon as it's warmed up of course) and with the A/C turned OFF

Takes him 2 hours to get to the city with taffic...and he's closer.

I have heard that there is a 20 bhp difference on average between 40 and 80 degree ambient air temp. I certainly feel that this is the case, but it just sounds to terrible to be true... Would FMIC help?
P.S. it feels like since I've had the cai, the hot weather hasn't been AS nasty on the car... still annoyingly noticable, but a little less significant.

One other thing which no one else mentioned is that the R is deceptively quick. I can't tell you how many times when I first got my R I didn't think I was speeding . . . until I looked down at the speedometer.

That's why the R and really all turbo driven cars really benefit from a good FMIC (or something to keep the air going into the intake cooooooold). Cold = hp. Heat = sap.
-Eric

Try some decent US 93/94 Octane gas. (not the 91 Diet, stuff)
Here in Europe, I only use EU 100 Octance gas, makes a big difference on any turbo car.
Regards,
Coolknight

This might be a new topic but w/ the AC on the car looses all it's nuts.
I had the AC on the other day on the ride home from work, and the acceleration felt similar to my friends Yugo.

Re: The R feels kind of slow... (phuz)

I'm reminded verytime I hit the gas. It's actually more than 300 pounds. In theory though, the Volvo should be quicker. I'm one of those people that's convinced BMW understates their hp figures.
