Weather was ~83 degree and it must have been near 100% humidity..
Visited the Ring with the S60R because the S70 is having some problems..
Jan "JCViggen" was present also with his 850 T-5R "R killer"
Did a total of 5 laps . In my attempt to kill an older model M5 we ran in to an accident at which point I needed to brake from ~105 mph down to ~18 mph. Managed to outbrake the M5 in the process, stock brakes did an amazing job. With all driver aid turned off including a deactivated tracktion control do to overheating the system the car kept it's balance while braking hard in mid corner..
I was very scared to lose the car due to the sudden weight transfer but it responded well to the steering input.
With the hot weather the PS2's had a hard time keeping traction. At a few points this resulted in very well controlable 4 wheel drifts, awesome!
Also present were a few people from the German Volvo forum VolvoPower.de. One very nice '05 Heico tuned and lowered S60R with 19" rims was with them. Very nice car to see.
I didn't bring my camera, hope to gather a few pics in the coming week.
Great day, loads of fun. The iPD track kit combined with the Eibach springs does wonders!

Sounds like you had fun.
What's the issue with the PS2s and high temps ? Do PS2s with their softer (less stiff) sidewalls become even less stiff with increasing temps ? Are the Pzeros not so subject to this issue ?

Sounds like it was a great day. I'm glad to finally hear a track report where the sotck brakes held up without fading terribly from high speed decel. Post those pics soon!

I have to squint to actually see some rubber around the rim. Maybe a little to big IMHO.

Those 20" rims looks very nice, but with that little rubber on it, I don't think it will last long in potholes SA though

But you can't on an S60.. no further than 235 (or 245?) ... so your tires have to get far too thin, down to a point where one can not appreaciate the beauty of the wheels, because it sort of gives them an awkward look with almost no rubber around, and almost rubbing inside the fenders... way too big for this car's size and design IMHO. not to mention that they slow the car down considerably.
The last corner he made some room but it was obvious he would run wide entering the corner. If you understand the language you can here the passenger say that we can finally pass him and I answer to him that this isn't the case, at that very moment you can see the car cut my line again. Maybe if I was driving alone I would have made a more aggressive passing attempt but with a passenger in the car the concentration is less. Earlier in the video at the karussel you can see mee driving the outside "tourist route" because this huge purple Porsche was closing in pretty fast.. I expected him to take the concrete lower part but he didn't...

Johann, Jan,
if you plan a date way in advance for visiting the Ring, post it here or send me a message, as I would like to have a target and an incentive to drive down to the Ring from Munich once again in September.
As Kelly isn't anymore on the base in Ramstein and nobody from the old gang seems to have taken the initiative... I am missing the 72 truns!
Fernand
