The dreaded clunking sound

Hey guys ive got a 2011 s60, and while turning it made clunking sounds on the passenger side. I thought it was the spring seat, so i took it apart and bought a one. Old one looked the same as the new one, and i cracked the plastic on the new one on the way back in so i just put the old one back on. Old one was a little more loosely spinning than the new one. Then i went for the tie rod and it was seized together outer and inner. Took it to the shop they replaced it, did alignment and still a loud noise persists. What else could it be? Also ive gotta drive 600 km in 2 days so what problems...can be tolerated if i drive slower? Ie sway bar, strut etc

I think i have this too. Is it a dull metallic sound coming from the rear of the car? And when you turn aggressively?

XC90 has a known issue with "clunking". (technical term) There is a sticky on the XC90 forum.

Looks like there is a TSB on it. P2 platforms

One of the posts in the sticky Page 4

Volvo (TSB) Technical Service Bulletin: VCC-130664 US 2003-03-20 / S80-2-21-0030
"A knocking noise that may occur when driving at low speeds on uneven road or at sharp turns can be caused by one of the rear sub frame bushings moving in the sub-frame. The knocking can sometimes also be felt in the floorboard under the driver’s feet. Install an O-ring between the sub-frame and the bodywork on the rear bushings on both left and right side as a service solution."
This bulletin specifies this fix for S80 models but since the sub frames and bushings are the same on other P2 models, it is likely that S60, V70 and possibly XC90 models may experience the knocking effect also.

After tie rod replacement the noise is while driving under 50kmh and going over bumps at any speed. It generally is silent on highway. Mech said it was the strut mount, but suggested replacing strut, sway bar end links and mount. I dont think he knows what really the matter. I might have not tightened the sway bar ends enough when i put the car back together. It sounds like its specifically from the front wheel well. After that if it doesnt fix it ill try with the rear subframe fix. Thanks guys.
