Well, that's not too positive...
How do you convert his gas mileage estimates to "American"?
Speaking of fuel, is it true that the XC90 requires Premium fuel? I read that somewhere...
I read in a Consumers Report magazine that the V70 & I think the S60 only requires regular unleaded, so I'm hoping the XC90 does also.

He's saying "What's the point?" Clearly the XC90 is meant for the US market; he'd rather have the V70.
Can't blame him, having lived with European fuel prices I'd never have such a gas-hog over there. It just doesn't make any sense.
The question, though, is why even have it over here? Apperently there's no 4WD low gear range, so it's not like the machine is meant for serious off-road use.
Not that anyone who plunks down $45k is gonna take the thing off road, anyway. But as long as there are buyers out there who'll drop that kind of money, you might as well give 'em something to spend it on.
Seems foolish if you ask me, but that's just me. It's not my money, after all.
He did not appreciate BMTRoubleYou'sX5 which, in my eyes, is so far the best handling and best looking SUV (and I am not a fan of SUVs either). I think he was the wrong person for an initial evaluation of a new SUV but no biggie.
He is also not very well informed as he maintains that the XC90 is derived from the "E2" platform which as we all know is wrong. I don't think he meant to write the correct "P2" since "E" and "P" are far away from each other on the keyboard. That does not wear well with me when an automotive journalist makes mistakes like this. It is as bad as going to buy a car adn the sales consultant is inaccurate about his/her car.

Yannis

It puts the sponsoring publication/website in a bad light also, ruins their credibility.
