I keep running down to the garage to see this beauty. Got it yesterday. Storm today (late in the day but the morning was consumed by Christmas). Finally after dinner spent one solid hour playing with the seat adjustments, garage door opener, radio and CD adjustments while hubby took care of the kids. Gotta love the hubby. Then, the kids came down and we checked out varous configurations (we have 7 seat model) and played kid and mommy CD's.
Yum yum....

Just an FYI, you can just reply to the threads instead of posting new ones.
Where are you? It's still snowing here in Boston...not as bad as earlier but still coming down pretty hard. I love it when you get a new car and just spend time figuring everything out. How do the kids like crawling into the back seats? Or have they not tested it out yet?
Ron

OOPS, goofed on the reply thing....actually I think I got dumped in there after replying to my e-mail notification thing but I'm not 100% sure.
I'm in Boston - Needham. Heavy, wet snow. Theoretically my XC90 should be awesome but you know don't want to ruin the carpets dont want to get in an accident don't want to use the car....
Kids love the car. Two year old daughter will own the middle row. Five year old son still waffling between total ownership of the third row (mommy is there a thing in this car where you can send me stuff back here?{I guess like a tube like in the old days for banks?}) and split ownership of the second row.
More importantly, I love the car. Sorry, but gotta be selfish occasionally. Haven't had a new car since 1996. Never spent a lotta cash on cars. Now it was just time. And it was a great Santa gift.
Sorry this isn't so technical but is more gush....I'm not a super techno car person, although I am a super researcher and I did put a lot of thought into what I was going to buy. I am very happy with how it has worked out... Smile smile smile... shoulda done an icon but....

Re: Thanks Ron - it's very exciting... (eaton3000)

I'm over in Brighton and actually drove in the snow tonight when it was at it's heaviest. Bad timing to get out on the road with my 99 Passat. Snow tires did help but I didn't get a lot of traction. Tires were mostly spinning up hills. Slid into a curb too going around a corner...rear end just slide out and the car bounced off the curb. Nothing major at all, so I'm glad for that.
I definetely would reccomend keeping the XC90 in the garage for now. Until they plow the snow (which they are starting to do).
Why don't you get some WeatherTechs for the car? They are very good rubber mats. It will keep your mats looking new.
I'm sure your son will figure out to keep snacks and toys back there when he's there instead of asking mommy for toys. You could possibly put a little slide from the front to the back that won't obscure rear view visibilities..
Don't worry about not being technical. It's great that you found us (Swedespeed). We can teach you how to be technical
Enjoy the car! Let us know how it drives tomorrow, or when you take her out.
Ron

I agree not good to drive now in Boston.
Used to live in Brighton - Montfern Avenue. Great place. Went to Oak Square Pizza a long time after moving to Needham. Lived at South Street (right near Chestnut Hill Ave) for many years till the BC kids drove us out.
Husband played Park League baseball at Cleveland Circle oh just about four nights a week.
Anyway, don't get me wrong. Drove around quite a bit yesterday. Car drives really nice. Even husband who is biased against SUV's was very happy.

Driving to Connecticut on Friday. Actually, can't wait...(isn't that weird???)....

I'm over on Lake Street, right across from the Archdiocese of Boston. It's not too bad, but it gets a bit rough when BC has their home football games. People get drunk and can do bad things to the neighborhood.
I don't hang out in Oak Square at all. How is their pizza there?
I have sat in the XC90 and it feels great. Haven't driven one yet (but might soon). From all the reviews I've read, it's a great handling car. I would take one over any other SUV out there.
We're enthusiasts here...It's not weird to look forward to a long drive. I'll be heading down to CT sometime this weekend myself (I think Sunday). Hope you have a safe trip down there.
Ron

Lake Street - know it well. One way - goin' downhill - What's the Cardinal gonna do? Oh yeah, he's gone.
Drive this puppy ASAP. Although maybe you have an S60? That's our next Volvo (many moons from now). But if your family needs an SUV, and you're lamenting the fact that you need to drive a minivan or buy an MDX or Pilot (wicked uncomfortable seats), check out this car as soon as you can. It's really stupendous.

Yep, one way going downhill. Except when the plows are out, they go the wrong way up the street.
I don't currently own a Volvo. I currently drive a 1999 VW Passat. It's not bad but it's having issues and I'm coming up at 60K. Right now I know I want a Volvo AWD vehicle but not sure if I will go with the V70 AWD/XC70 or S60 AWD. I do want to get the new V70R but unsure if I want to go with a first year production.
I'm currently looking at 2000 V70Rs on the web. Can't find a Laser Blue one though but there are plenty of Silvers out there. I might end up with an older one for a couple of years before getting the newer R model.
I don't need a SUV at all. Just a single guy at the moment, no kids. Not that I need a wagon either but they come in handy. And it's a pleasent surprises to beat someone off the line if you have one.
I probably will test drive an XC90 just for the heck of it at the local dealership. btw, which dealership did you purchase your XC90 from? Was it a pleasent experience for you?
Ron

I bought from Dalzell in Dedham. Was a very pleasant experience. Bob Mitnick was my contact and he was very nice and accomodating (had to bring kids on test drives, etc.) I highly recommend him and Dalzell.

Thanks for the info. The last time I was at Dalzell looking at used Volvo's, no one came out to help me (probably because I look like I'm still 18). What is your name so I can just let him know you referred me.
Thanks,
Ron
