Other than the usual 'door open' or 'trunk open' messages, I've seen it say the front right low beam bulb was burned out (it will tell you when parking lamps or turn signals go out) to one day later when "SRS Sensor failure, service Urgent" popped up when the airbag sensor quit. It will also shut down the engine when the coolant level drops too low, warn when the master cylinder has failed (reported by others).

In short, there are lots of things.

Yes, there must be hundreds. I was hoping for a complete list or documentation. Why should the car owner have to wait till the message comes up. I'd like to know all the systems the computer can monitor. I haven't spoken to my dealer yet, but I'm sure they won't be of much help.

That's an interesting trivia question. I must definitely look into this now!
I have heard from a Volvo rep that the total is about 100. Now...can someone tell me what is the number of languages that a Volvo can be programmed for those messages?

Plus US and then UK 'english.' (Yeah, they're different. The Brits wouldn't understand the message "trunk lid open" and we would have no clue what "boot lid open" would mean. (actually, they mean the same thing)

You 've done your homework! An "A+" for Dave!

Here is another trivia! How many engine variants in the S80 model exist (MY2002), in Europe? Hint: the correct number is 8...

Great work on the languages thing, now who'll step-up to the plate to publish the text message list (completed) in English please.

Except of course my UK D5SE says quite clearly "TRUNK LID OPEN" but I did manage to translate this!! I must check to see if it says "HOOD OPEN" if I open the bonnet.

What, they didn't translate to UK-ese? How rude! I'm surprised, seeing as how Sweden is physically closer to the UK, one would have thought the english would have come from there.

But I'm glad you were able to translate.

I remember snippets of a poem years back when I was in high school in Brussels and I can't remember the whole thing. It starts:

"Oh to be in England, if for only 'alf a 'mo.

For when they speak of wireless, they mean the radio."

I only remember half lines after that, but it goes on to delineate the major differences between 'english' across the pond. I have no idea who wrote it but I wish I could get a copy.

Enjoy your T5SE.
