Even though it's fairly heavy compared to my 850T wagon, it feels much tighter and really hauls with no lag whatsoever. The suspension was very compliant, yet stayed composed very well, in stark contast to the crashy and stiff nature of the 850 suspension. It possibly had the best clutch I have ever driven also, like butta. On the other hand it is pretty pricey, and some have had problems with the synchros. But damn, I wish volvo would place more emphasis on performance.

Funny, I have fallen in love with that car as well. I still have doubts about the trans. If it is anything like the '97 Jetta GLX (VR6+5-speed) that I had, Audi can keep it. I had the car in the shop 3-times for trans/sync problems in 1st, 2nd, and 5th. All that in <27k miles! Funny part was, that was the 7th car I've had with a manual trans and the first one with problems! The shop manager tried saying it was just me and the car was fine. I let him drive it for a day and he recalled his comment. Funny how that works. Well, I have seriously thought about the car in laser blue and 6-speed. I just need to try the CLK-430 first. I am in love with both cars and can't afford either of them. Bummer! Live long the 850!!!
Prospero

Matt, I don't think they have the same tranny, one's 6 speed AWD, and the other is just a 5 speed FWD. I haven't heard any compliants about their cars' tranny, at least from the Net.
And the color is called, Santorian Blue..or maybe it's the Nogaro Blue you are refering to.
Maybe you want to take a look at the AMG C32 instead. Much more bang for the bucks.
Hehehe...maybe I should consider that S4 Avant for my winter car if the rear seats weren't that small. Hopefully they will come out the A6 2.7T Avant, same cool twin turbo engine, just bigger car to haul your family around.
Hehehe..that'll be my Executive Cruiser, while C70 being my weekend fun car, and 240 with big V8 + twin turbo as my race car for some race events.
Oh wellz, we can always dream, can't we?
BTW, the rental car issue is resolved, don't think I'll need your help anymore. Like I predicted if you were going to add me as a secondary driver, I would still have to pay the surcharge+ whatever charge they have for ppl under 25. It would not be any cheaper at all.

[This message has been edited by The_one_n_only (edited 07-27-2001).]

They are offering the 2.7T on the A6 for 2002 as a matter of fact. The problem is that the car weighs so damn much. The S6 Avant (4.2 V8) is coming also, but only with the tiptronic trans and expensive at 50K.
