Nice car, very comfy inside. It was easily as quick as the R, but it really didn't have that "plant your ass in the seat" feel the R has. No idea why, it has the power and the torque to do it. It was a very different feel, extremely nose heavy. There's no way i'd ever want to work on anything in that engine bay, it's crammed in there. The ride was a bit bumpier but not uncomfortable. It was definitely much easier to drive around town, you can just lug it around in 3-4th gear all day long. The R takes a bit more effort to get off the line just driving normally, the S4 was just easy as pie much like my old 540i 6spd. The wife and I looked at it on a whim while looking at another car they had for her. She said it was way too much car for her and would never use it to its potential. Whew, i dodged a maintenance nightmare with that decision. :) Looks like it's an A3 or B7 A4 2.0t for her. Can't convince her to like the S60R or i'd just give her mine and get myself a V70R.

No offense, but who cares? This is the VOLVO R forum. I like Audi's as well, if I were forced to buy any car other than a Volvo, it would be an A6.

S4, turbo issues after some high miles, if is auto tragic....worse results. Not bad looking car but def. Audi is going down on quality every year.

I have a feeling she'd be very happy if you get her a new gen C70..
She needs a sedan next. Not spending over 15k on anything either. We drove the new c70, its way slower than her 01 anyway. It can't get out of its own way...not to mention it only comes as an auto.

Its either his car is having some serious problem or he is a bad driver.
The B6 S4 is a much faster car than a R if both in stock form.
Also it's a sportier car than a R too.
Sorry if it upset you but all the review I have seen stated that the B6 S4 is a overall better car than a R.

I honestly knew all that...and then I drove it. It was nothing special compared to my R.

totally agree, 05-09 6spd LGT would be a great car, but they can't get over about 23mpg on their best day. One of my favorite cars honestly.

Get her a Suzuki SX4. Cheap, 22MPG, good AWD.

My wife had one for a commuter in MD. We had that nasty snow storm when we got 38"+ overnight. As the neighbors were trying to dig their cars out, she barely was able to pull open the door, started the car up, drove out of the snow ( like a little tank), dusted off the top. She even had custom leather heated seats in it and they were less than $2,000 installed. It wasn't the most luxurious car, but custom leather makes it much better.

My wife had the hatchback, but we drove it from Md to Texas with a kid and a dog crate. Not a bad car.
