Tech Session Saturday October 22 – CRO Import Auto Service, 3241 Kerner Blvd. San Rafael, CA Start 9:00 AM

Track Day – Friday December 9 – Thunderhill Raceway.

Tech Day – Saturday October 22 – 9:00 AM
We’ll have a tech session at Carlo Gardin’s shop on Saturday October 22. Carlo will make his VADIS machine, lifts, expertise and amazing parts bin available. I’ll scrounge up some lunch. If you would like to do a demonstration or talk about a particular maintenance item or modification let me know. I hope to have my 242 back by then with the suspension modifications that John Pagel of Evil Genius racing did. We can look at that for starters. Send me an email if you are coming, and tell me how many people will be with you.

Track Day - Friday December 9.
I got an amazing response for a December Track Day. Some of you even expressed a PREFERENCE for rainy conditions. Good Golly.
So here is the deal. I reserved Friday December 9th for us at Thunderhill. I didn’t do any historical research on how many rainy vs. clear December 9ths there have been over the past 10 years or anything like that. I’m sure it is on the web somewhere, so if you’d like to look it up and enlighten us….
For those of you considering your first track day, there is no need to be uneasy. We’ll have instructors available and will start you with a group of beginners until you are comfortable. There is no racing, just a chance to drive your car fast in controlled, safe conditions. For those of you doing your zillionth track day, we are considering utilizing the back (fast) side of the track for the advanced group. Check it out at http://www.thunderhill.com
Here is what the deal looks like. (approximate only)
Track Rental $1000 – (usually $5000 in the summer months)
Insurance $1200
Ambulance $800 - here is one where we hope we pay for nothing.
Misc. $1400 – Corner workers, tower guy, cone set up, PA system, facilities charges
Lunch $600
Total $5000
Here is what I am thinking on pricing. $100 for VCOA members, $125 for non members. Those prices will be good until November 1. After November 1, prices go to $125 for members, $150 for non members. You can sign up anytime. Procrastinate as long as you want. It is your money. You can invite friends, even relatives. We’ll take the first 50 who pony up, then cut off registration so the run groups are small enough for you to enjoy some clear track.
If you want to get in on this deal, here is how: Send a check made out to NBVCOA to Lee Cordner, 313 Point San Pedro Rd. San Rafael, CA 94901
I’ll need to know what car you’ll be driving, your experience level and the driving group you prefer. Your group preference should reflect YOUR experience, not your car’s potential. Here are your choices
Group 1 – Least experienced group – Learning the basics
Group 2 – Some experience, know the line and capable of driving quick laps
Group 3 – Experienced, fast drivers
This probably doesn’t need to be said, but if you pay, then change your mind for any reason, even if it raining cats and dogs, I probably can’t give your money back. You can try to re-sell your spot, but once I sign the contract I’m on the hook for the $$$. Thunderhill doesn’t cut me any slack, so I can’t cut you any.

Re: Tech Session and Track Day (Choptop)

Lunch is included.
I generally bring a cooler with something to drink. Even if it is cool, you get thirsty
Passengers are allowed. They need a helmet. In Group 1, you need a sign off from an instructor before you can take a passenger.
Lee

Hello Kevin,
Did you or friends take photos on December 9th? Also, what happened to the photos you had posted of the June 2005 track day? I would like one for my screen saver, if that is OK with you.
Regards, Peter

Peter,
We will run the whole track in May. The advanced group will run the whole track all day. The beginning and middle groups will run the whole track in the afternoon, short track in the morning. Hope you can make it.
Pricing will be in the $180 range for VCOA members, $210 for non members.
Lee
