Well today I started to install my HD TCV from IPD.
And I ran into some trouble any help is appreciated!
I've got two of the hoses and the power connected but on the yellow color coded hose the old tcv's plastic valvue is broken in there so i cut a little of the hose to remove it. The problem is i guess the diameter further in is a smaller diameter because i cant get the hose onto the valve.
The hose I'm referring to (Yellow CODE) goes up and connects to this metal thing i have no idea what it is, should i take the hose off and ask volvo for a replacement or buy a plastic coupler to a larger diameter sized hose?
any other solutions?

Ok i figured out the one hose that isn't connected goes to the wastegate actuator would it be possible to drive the car even in limp mode without it connected?

Could you post a little info for those of us who have never done the TCV? This thread just makes me feel like I'll have 5 hours of problems if I change my TCV.

I just bought the one they use for S60 all of the tcvs are the same the only thing that is different is the bracket IPD sends with it.
I used Rich's How-to from s40forums for a reference.
http://www.s40forums.freeforum....html
The job would of been much easier if the hose was not cracked and the old tcv didn't break into pieces...
The colors on the stock tcv match up with those on IPDs TCV.
The hardest part are those damn clamps cause there so tight. I used
pliers to take them off but then i used traditional screw clamps on the new tcv but you can use the orignal ones if you are crafty enough.
To mount it I just ziptied it to the old bracket that held the stock TCV.
Also make sure to follow IPDs break-in procedure.
I left my battery unhooked for over 20 min so that the ECU would learn better when i went for the initial drive.
It is also good to have someone with small hands to assist.
And remember to use CAR STANDS and not a jack to lift your car, your life is not worth smoother boost! lol
Don't let my situation scare you, I was just unlucky it really should be an easy job, this was my first time working under the car so it was an interesting experience, those lucky s60 owners have their TCV located up near their MAF on the intake!!!
If you have any questions let me know.

Quote, originally posted by IPD »

Ipd's new precision turbo control valve provides rock solid boost control and high accuracy restoring power from failing solenoids that are slow and sluggish. Slow spool time and fading boost pressure is common with weak factory solenoids and can rob you of power you didn't know you even lost. Designed to handle high heat, high pressure, and tough environments, ipd's new turbo control valve was built with longevity in mind. With crisp actuation and precise control you'll regain lost power from poorly operating stock units.

Basically it controls boost, in older cars they would adjust these solenoids to alter boost level but of course on newer cars air flow is monitored. Volvo's stock TCV is garbage and is usually shot after enough miles or in my case when modifying the turbo to get more optimal performance. People with newer cars or unmodified cars may not get a noticeable difference cause there TCVs are operating fine but may want to upgrade for a more reliable valve. As I said mine was in two pieces when I started playing with it and after installing this TCV I can say without a doubt boost comes in way faster and stays for wayy longer almost to redline!!
Best $65 ever spent.

One thing I would do if you are replacing the TCV is to go ahead and buy 7 feet of silicone tubing from IPD because those rubber hoses all crack eventually from heat. Changing the hoses is way harder though I think I will let a shop do that...
