Finally fixed two nagging things today: Forced myself to get back behind the glovebox and snaked out the passenger blend door motor, which is behind another blend door. After many hand cramps, it’s out and the new one is in.
I reset with the Volvo 850 app ( I traded an old broken MacBook for an Android GPD, which is is literally like a Nintendo DS but android). But anyways, it worked and I have a very toasty car now, the wife was very appreciative.
The second nagging thing was correcting my odometer, and I figured a way to do it faster than spin the gear over and over that worked well for me.
The small blue gears that run beneath the mileage are held in place through the middle of themselves with a small metal rod. I pulled out the rod on one side, and fed a paperclip through the other side, replacing the rods spot but giving me space to move them slightly to spin the numbers. After I had the numbers set, I slowly slid the rod back in, pushing out the paperclip and boom I was set! So nice to have a working odometer again. She now sits at 116k.
Next up is repairing my extra dash pad, painting it, and then securing it down nice and tight to avoid lifting, then I’m just gonna get a dash mat to put over it all. After that, I’m going to pull all the plastic wood trim off of the entire dash, and would like to order some new paneling, as the set I have is mismatched and not in great shape. Any suggestions as to where to get the wood trim? What colors do you guys like? I’ve always liked this trim, but maybe it would look odd over black?
