Does anybody have experience with this? I don't know much about the Volvo audio system, but the fact it's a royal pain is apparent. I've had the idea of buying the stereo out of a newer model just to get AUX capability, but I can't find any solid proof that the '05 will accept a newer unit. I also saw the thread about running a line in to the factory amp in the rear, but I'm very limited in my capabilities with the green board of any electronic piece and don't trust myself. So, I came across this unit that looks like it might be mostly plug-n-play. Any thoughts on the best route or if this Tasca part is worth the time and trouble?

That's the thing, the site says it fits my '05 V50. I may just call Tasca and see what's up. It doesn't seem like people are interested in the kit, but I'll throw an update up with whatever info I find out.

I tossed in a Bluetooth and have been very happy with it:

got these on ebay:

Volvo aerial adapters - DIN connectors when using FM modulator CT27AA35 CT27AA58

took 30 mins

Video how to do it:

I had not seen this before. I was planning on doing the 9V-connector approach after finding no suitable info on the driver's-kick-panel-white-box possibility.

I found the adapters on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Volvo-aerial-adapters-DIN-connectors-when-using-FM-modulator-CT27AA35-CT27AA58-/221478524534 "Volvo aerial adapters - DIN connectors when using FM modulator CT27AA35 CT27AA58" from seller Incarconnections, who is indeed in the UK.

This looks like the cleanest way to do the isimple install. Can anyone confirm whether the inline antenna amplifier would damage the modulator, or is that simply a possibility? I understand that's why people went for the 9V-style install, but this seems like less trouble.

I've been thinking of getting the OEM USB interface as well but the price put me off. Last time I went to the scrap yard I totally forgot to look for a car with USB installed but planning a trip when spring comes, fingers crossed.

Swede: I've had mine installed for many months, no problems at all. Same adapter and bluetooth module as listed above!

If someone finds some OEM USB business at a junk yard, and doesn't want to fuss with it, I would be down to purchase it and give it a go! ;)

Trying to figure out if the 2005 single CD player is the same setup, without tearing my whole waterfall apart first. The googles seem to think so. I noted that the model in the DIY video was a 2007. Thoughts?

For $30 worth of cabling and $70ish for a bluetooth handsfree unit, I can't see myself NOT doing this.

I like that setup, and the video is really helpful. What did you do to get an AUX in, or did you avoid that entirely? The video is for the iSimple IS32 Tranzit USB model and comes with AUX in, but no Bluetooth. You put in the iSimple Bluetooth kit that has no USB or AUX. What I'm ultimately trying to figure out is a solution that allows me to have an AUX/USB and BT, but I'm not finding a single kit. Either way, this is looking cheaper than the original part I posted aboutand can be just as "stock" in appearance. I'm still going to call Tasca when they're open tomorrow, but that'll just be for future reference.

UPDATE: I called Tasca. They couldn't find the interface kit listed for any MY 05 or MY 06 models. I didn't ask what the kit matches in later years. At least that problem is solved. Now on to finding the best iSimple kit...
