Finally got around to removing the insulation from the hood. What a difference. You can really hear the turbo. With the Evolve AMS and hood grills, it's sweet music.

Your paint however won't enjoy it quite as much.

I dont know about that.

This always seems to pop up. I've never seen any evidence of this.

The blanket comes off as one piece when you removed (squeeze) the clips.

I also removed the rubber gasket that seals the back of the hood for more flow and a path for the heat to escape. The only negative I have experience from the gasket removal is a less effective defroster. If you trim the gasket you can leave pieces that will still divert the flow to the climate control and it will function perfectly.

I also used washers to raise the back of the hood about 1/4 inch.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the purpose of the blanket to smother a fire if you are unfortunate enough to have one start in the engine bay? It shouldn't effect the paint any if you remove it.

Had mine off for about three years, no issues. They eventually just get all gunked up and decayed anyway, so it's just as well to pitch it early on. Yeah, you can sure hear the turbo spool up...

Re: (xman03)

would taking off your airbox cover have any negative effects on intake flow? the whole negative vacuum pressure stuff?

i mean the Evolve/IPD has no cover (but that seals to the hood doesnt it?)
