Just to get away from that other topic...taillights tinted? How about do you go about that? Just curious? Any thoughts? Would it work on an 855?

So if you want those ugly Altezza taillights, you probably won't find them for a Volvo. I don't even know if any type of taillight for the 850 is available in the aftermarket. That's why I suggested a more subtle red/tint combination which you can do yourself for very little money.

Hmmm, the spray on stuff works, but I don't think it ever looks as good as a factory tint. Generally, the factory only tints the clear segments of the lights and not the red segments.

That said, I think the red/clear look is the best if you can't get a factory tint. Why don't you try fitting some red/clear upper taillight lenses from the V70 Mark I to your 855. That'd be a subtle mod that would look good and I don't think I've seen anyone do.

You don't like those tail lights? They are so popular now...you see them on Ford Lighting, few Lexus, Altima, and some other ghetto looking car. They are just as popular as boy bands and pop music.
Everyone is putting that on their cars now...

I still can't understand the trend, though. Just like those who wants to pimp out their cars with cheesy ghetto 'mods'...where did they get their ideas?! Even in my wildest dream, I can't see myself doing that to my car. Alright, fine except for my tin can.

Actually I think he meant to quote me from the other thread. I wrote that paragraph about the ugly-ass altezza taillights. If I ever bought a Lexus that had those things stock, I'd have to change them (broken taillights even look better!).

Hey now, that adds weight on the rear for better high speed stability.

FYI, they actually do have some tail light cover from TRD to cover up the clear/chrome part. That's something for you think about, wouldn't you say? Maybe the designer knew there would be customers with good taste and want to convert their cars to look normal, and decided to make profit this way.

The tin can is def. helping the weight distribution on this car~

I think I will leave it stock as is. I am not a fan of the clear lenses on the imports such as Honda and Acura mods...ghetto cars. The examples from Lexus however are excellent (IS3300, RX300) and do suit the car quite well..it however must be the right colour of car to do so. I am disappointed that Nissan has decided to follow suit on the Maxima and Altima.

To get away from the ugly altezza lights topic that has burned out now.... What I did to make my car be different from the crowd is I took out the centerpiece that connects the two tail lights. The main reason I took it off was because it was rattling from my sub. I couldn't stand the fact that my car sounded like some 82 escort with two huge half blown subs banging around where the entire car rattles as it goes by... sorry... thats just the mental image I get when a car rattles from overpowered subs in a undertightened car. I have pictures posted if you want to have a look see.http://homepage.mac.com/turboale/PhotoAlbum.html

Good luck on your quest for a different ass from everyone else, I was thinking of changing my license plate lights to a red color, I saw a couple guys do that over on the Audiworld forum, looked pretty trick...

Be careful on changing the colour of anything w.r.t. lights on your car. My neigbour is a cop, and advised in conversation that they are now clamping down on such mods as changing lights etc. He even advised that the 'blue halogen' aftermarket headlights are a huge problems. The stock cars with these products are okay becuase it is actually a white light. Cops are now busting more people for plate covers tinted too dark. Just some advice.

Actually the new 3 series compact is going to have the similar tail light design. As you can see it's those 'econ' pop cars that are getting the make-over only. The ones which you will see more teenagers and boy racers in.

Though I could part with the taillight on the new Maxima... the 260hp (normally aspirated) and 6spd sure sound inviting... I'd love to drive one to see if they have come close to the europeans...

Speed wise maybe, but overall quality..probably not. The Z28s have been pretty fast in the past half decade, but other than that...that's about it.
