Hit the FOB, no sounds from tailgate. Also won't open with interior lock button. Is there some sort of manual release for the tailgate? Dealer closed for the weekend, would like to open tailgate

Re: Tailgate won't unlock (vdude)

If you look at the area where the trunk opener/handle is on the trunk, to the side there's a place where you can put your key in and manually unlock your trunk. Also, once you get your trunk open check your fuse box on the left side of your trunk - there's a fuse there for the trunk release which may be blown resulting in the inability to open your trunk electronically.

No luck. There's no keyhole in the tailgate anywhere...only keyhole on outside of car is drivers door. Tried that, no go. Crawled in through rear door, checked fuses, all seem fine. Must be solenoid gave up. Thanks for your suggestion.

The keyhole is near the rear plate on an SR. I'm not sure if it exists on a VR.
This may sound silly but do you have a valet trunk button like an SR at the bottom of your console (under the climate control)? It should be next to the DSTC and Fold Down Headrest. I once hit that button inadvertently and couldn't figure out why my trunk wouldn't open via remote.

Push the handle on the tailgate the opposite way as if you are trying to open it. Sometimes mine hangs up and the tailgate won't unlock.

Re: Tailgate won't unlock (vdude)

Just got car back from dealer....not fuse.....not actuator....turns out the wiring harness went bad! Luckily this $436 (us) repair was covered by my extended warranty. As an aside, there is no way to open the V70R tailgate if the fob or interior buttons don't work. I took yet another look under the lip above the license plate, no plugs or keyholes. There is a place stamped in the steel where the plug would be if they used it The techs at the dealer had to crawl through the back seat just as I did when checking the fuses.
