Let's say I'm driving around with the engine off for 10 minutes. Then, I get to a freeway entrance and stomp it. In a fraction of a second the gas engine goes from cold to redline. That seems like the absolute worst case for an engine, but I have to believe that Volvo (and every other hybrid manufacturer) has figured it out by now. What are the tricks? Just running the oil pump while the engine is off? Special coatings? I have no idea, and Googling is no help at all. Thanks for any help!
