So, if you have a modded T5, what mods have you liked best/were the most beneficial? (if someone with a T5 were hypothetically curious about such information)
Saw some hard pipes on S40Forums that look pretty neat. Opinions on that?
I did things in this order:
K&N intake (cool sound, but you'll probably make your own)
Bell intercooler - Not a noticeable difference, but I know it helps unless my engineering degree was a waste. Maybe it would have been more noticeable if I did it after my other upgrades, and on a hot day.
RICA tune
Exhaust
Downpipe + reflash RICA
That's quite the chunk of change, though. I chose the order in which I upgraded so that once it was loud, it had the power to back up the sound. (288/303 )

I am seriously contemplating the mod, but I need to find out whether someone has done it with success. Our local boys with the Ford ST's have done one with the S60R setup and the other chap has added a Garret . Both with stock internalls.
"Update: We fitted bigger injectors when we in josie last month. We spent a few hours the morning on the dyno and managed to get 300+kw at 1.2bar boost"
and the other one
"update: we only spent 2 runs with xf and got 230wkw with a very smooth graph on shell 95 we will spent some more time with xf next weekend but we need some small hardware changes to extract max performance"
http://www.fordstownerssa.co.z...?f=81
So it can be done

Re: (s40boy)

Read the 2 topics. Then one has manifold same as ATP setup, the other has S60R manifold etc.. They havent posted any pics apart from the 60's Turbo and the ATP tuning cast manifold.
Also just following the readup as they go. Seems they are in testing /tuning stage. Would be a blast to drive it though.
Not too much in favour of the Cast Manifold, but then again, so is ours and its not doing so bad either.

Re: (I8AGTI)

The turbo kit is the easy part, could do that anytime. The tuning aspect is the issue. As far as i know there arent any options available for data logging and mapping your own ECU other than my AEM EMS idea...

Re: (ForceFed Motorsports)

Decided on going with the Garret GT3071 R Turbo.
Install will take place in 2- 3 weeks time. Going for mandrel bend Exhaust manifold. My m8 did a Ford ST this week with same setup and made 245 kw at the wheels at 1.2 bar boost. If you flow the head 275 wkw.
Any one out there with the new style Evolve front bumper ? Need to find out the max distance of the open area where the intercooler fits. Want to do the engine mod and then get the Bumper when done.
Same as in the pic bellow. Thx.

Re: (I8AGTI)

You can fit a big intercooler in the stock bumper... from the looks of it the evolve is no more of a bigger air dam than stock. Im fitting a 8" tall 28" wide intercooler currently and will require only minor bumper modifications
Nice choice on the GT3071R you will enjoy the powerband with a solid kick in the shorts at the top end. Enjoy

Am I correct in saying power will come in at 3500 rpm ? If so, normal driving is always bellow that rpm when driving in town and therfore fuel consumption won't be that harsh with this setup. Also uprating the injectors to 500 cc's for safety reason. Can't wait Hope wife doesn't find out aswell

Re: (I8AGTI)

I am super excited to hear how this goes for you. At one point I wanted to be the first to have this done on a daily driver, but I have decided (mainly due to lack of finances and mechanical knowledge) to wait until someone else has done the same one so I know everything that I will need to do. PLEASE do dynos of before and after so we can see how much we can really expect from it. I hate marketing crap that makes stuff sound so great but real world application is nowhere close.

Did a pre -run sofar and only achieved 136 wkw. Was a bit dissapointing as my previous set of wheels (Opel Astra OPC H) made 185 wkw with bigger cooler ,exhaust and software.
Induction is done by K&N in left front wheel well. Sound is not so audible from there. I also dont like to much pshhhhhhhhht from turbo.
Must be a sleeper

Re: (I8AGTI)

Yeah that should be about right, the GT2871R would be a bit sooner but wont pack the same punch as the 30R will. It should make reasonable power and yet fuel consumption should be fine around town. Upgrading the injectors never hurts however id like know what CC our factory injectors are.
