So, I've got a 2001 T5 as well as a 2001 2.4T. The brakes on the T5 are larger and more effective. Can I upgrade the 2.4T's rotors and calipers to T5 spec?

Hm, I'll have to check again, but I could've sworn that the
T5 had 1" larger rotors....

There shouldn't be any fitment issues with mounting the larger front rotors that the T5 uses. If you go really big (R Brembos), you run into the need for minimum 17" wheels to clear the calipers.

You will need the larger caliper holder and mounting bracket in order to do this.
I have an '01 2.4t with the smaller 11" rotors up front. By accident I ordered the larger rotors and tried to mount them. The rotors fit the wheel fine, but without the right caliper mounting bracket, you will not be able to mount them. I tried and I failed. Rotor is just too large.
