Hi all, <br>Just considering buying a T4 and was wondering what the tuning potential of them is? whats the gearbox reliability like? intercooling setup? what boost do they run standard? just the usual stuff really. <br>I currently have a 1900 Escort RS Turbo which is awesome to say the least and will decimate anything up to 280bhp (tested, not fiction!) but alas it is only an old ford and i would like something a bit newer and better specced aswell as a bit of grunt, but it will need "breathing" on a bit before i'm happy to swap from the old escort! dont worry i aint gonna max power it up with naff body kits and dodgy neon wiper jet thingy's, i'm just after a bit of extra power with some comfort (maybe 300 ish bhp) any help or phone numbers of good experienced volvo tuners would be great.<br>Cheers<br>Matt <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://********************/smile/emsmile.gif" BORDER="0"> <p>

300 HP out of that 2 liter engine? Unless you are up for some serious reboring of the engine and ready to invest TENS of THOUSANDS of $$$, forget it.<p>That engine can be tuned, for a few thousand $$$, up to 250 or 255HP...beyond that, you are asking for trouble without major mods.<p><br>Yannis

Please check <A HREF="http://www.atechmotor.com" TARGET="_blank">http://www.atechmotor.com</a> for some serious performance upgrades, they are very knowledgable (especially with the 40 series) we use their products here in the U.S. and thus far have been very happy and successful. 300hp out of your T4 is not a problem. I have NO experience whatsoever with tuning the S40, much less at that level. However, I do have decent experience with similar modification of Volkswagen's 1.8-liter 20-Valve Turbo. <p>One of the more popular kits on the market that is the benchmark in hardcore upgrades for the VW 1.8T is the APR Stage III which goes to about 290hp if memory serves me correctly. The kit though is much more than just a chip. It's also a couple thousand US $. <p>Also consider, when you are tuning a motor that high over stock, don't expect warranty claims to be thought of too seriously. It's not hard to prove failure due to modifications when you are talking over double the hp.<p>That said, I'm sure it'd make the car AMAZING. You just have to pay to play. I am so not part of that. I only mention the girl thing because we try to stay away from the whole Max Power girl thing. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but the editorial directive of most of our sites is the "family show" approach.
