Yup, that's right. I'm trying to get a new turbo for the C, you know how it is..always want to squeeze out that last bit of power outta your car.
It's a Garrett hybrid turbo with Stage 3 T3 turbine with .48 AR. On the compressor side, I have a T04B Super S. According to Turbonetics, this turbo should hold well over 350hp. This unit has internal wastegate, meaning you don't have to go through the trouble custom fab your exhaust manifold to fit the external wastegate, also you will save another few hundred $$$.
Of course, the catch is that it's a ceramic ball bearing turbo..for full explaination you can visit Turbonetics' page
CBB combined with T3/T4 setup means it's the most suitable for street use and course racing. If you plan on only doing 1/4 mile drag everyday, this is not the turbo for you. If you don't mind lag and want to run out of your engine before turbo starts to spool up, this is not the turbo for you. If you have a big 6 cylinder engine or big V8, this is too small for you.
Of course, you would like to know how much I want it for. 500 miles ago, I bought it brand new for $1400, YES, $1400. If I had not added the ball bearing option, I would only have to pay around $750. This new turbo I'm getting, I will probably need to fork out $1600 if I want to keep on using ball bearing option, $950 if I just don't care for the lag and don't mind downshifting every time I need to get the car going.
My asking price is $1100. I will try to post on Swedespeed first then on other sites later. Let me know if you are interested. [email protected]

Damn...If only I had the shop still. I'd love to install that onto my 850. Maybe once I get comfortable here in San Jose I can give it a shot.
Good luck selling that beast! May the new owner have good traction-control!
Cheers,
Prospero

In crowded conditions, do you have to downshift a lot to keep it going?
What you are selling, will it fit in my engine? (I don't see why not, same type of engine, right?)? Would I need any extra adjustments/parts to complete the fit? I don't expect you to know these stuff about a 2001 V70 but I am wondering...I will e-mail you privately...
Thanks,
Yannis

Since this turbo is bigger than the one on your car, you might feel a bit more lag. Then again, you might not since you already have ECU and exhaust upgrade.
The reason for the hybrid turbo is for the smaller turbine side to spool up faster; therefore, less lag. And the ball bearing part is also to reduce the lag. You will require less downshifting for the same size turbo than the one that doesn't have ball bearing.
Ask c70pusher/Phill & JRockCLS/Jacob, they can tell you how I do not need to downshift when I'm cruising w/ 4th on highway to get it going...and I mean GOING very well. At 3rd during the powerband, at lower speeed....man, the rush. Almost have to experience yourself to know what I'm saying.
I'm assuming it should bolt right on. This particular size turbo I have is about right for the T5 engine size.
So, I'll say...you should have less need to downshift than before. Unless you are those type that drives w/ 5th gear on 35mph speed limit streets.
[This message has been edited by The_one_n_only (edited 09-11-2002).]

specifically I was wondering if the stock ecu on an 850R would handle this turbo (although with 12 psi of boost I'm thinking my ecu might not be stock). Any other mods needed to make it work?
