I am looking forward to putting on many miles with this XC40 R-Design. I like the smaller CMA platform and with the same technologies as my former SPA-platform vehicles, I don't feel as though I lost anything downsizing. I enjoyed the capacity and comfort of the XC90 and V90 Cross Country but this XC40 may be a better fit. I highly recommend those in the market for a new Volvo to give this one serious consideration.

I'll have a full write-up soon after some more time with the XC40.

The cargo capacity is very good for Volvo enthusiasts. I fit a set of four 20-inch wheels with tires and a fifth 20-inch wheel in a box with room to spare.

My current modification plan utilizes a set of 21-inch Polestar accessory wheels from the P3 XC60. The wheels were refinished last fall and just need a set of tires.

Great looking vehicle. Not sure about the bright red interior, but to each their own.

Great looking car and wheels btw! I like it but I'm on the fence with the Jeep Compass and I don't know what else is reminds me of but not in a bad way.

I've been following your Instagram with all the great shots. What happened to your v90 cc if you don't mind me asking. If it's too long, a pm is ok.

In the same regards, why's it that once the automaker (after a lot of drama) decides to buy back a car because it's a lemon, they don't mark the title a lemon or marked as such so no one else gets burned? or did i miss something?

You are confusing two separate issues.

1. If Volvo buys the car back voluntarily, the car is NOT a lemon. The manufacturer agreed to take the car and "fix the issue" on its own time. Often then slapping on a CPO.

2. The Lemon Law is FORCING the manufacturer to purchased the car back and is not voluntarily. Thereby, declaring the car unfit for safe operation or having faults which can' be repaired. The title is then branded and even if the car is fixed, will always keep a branded title. Except of course, manufacturers can scrub the title by moving these cars from state to state where the laws are lax. And such designations are weak or non existent.

LAVA!!! Love it! Buy or CbV?

I did a buy. I am really enjoying driving this thing! The T5 feels plenty powerful. Hoping to have some tweaks done in time for the Carlisle show.

With the Volvo black rubber floor mats, the Orange Lava is not as bold. There is just enough Lava showing to add a bit of flare.

Here are a couple pictures of the Volvo rubber floor mats over Orange Lava (poor lighting). I would have preferred that the driver's side go higher behind the pedals but I'm sure there was a safety concern.

And a 13-inch Macbook Pro in the door panel. :)

Thank you. That actually looks a lot better than just Lava carpet mats. Absorbs the blinding orange a little :)

Cross bars arrived. These won't be staying silver for long. Volvo should offer these in black so I don't have to wrap them. :)

I am interested to see these on, especially wrapped in black. I would not have thought to wrap them, have you done this before with load bars. Durability problems? I was thinking of getting them and powder-coating them black. I was also thinking of ordering the Thule AeroBlade Edge kit in black.

I have the Thule Canyon Roof Basket, I can't wait to put on.

My fully loaded silver r design shows up next week I hope...

Between wrap and powder coating, the latter will be much more durable.
If powder coating is not an option, I'd go for a dark smoked 20mil film instead of wrap material (~4mil?).

Max'd the cargo capacity this afternoon: four loose 245/45R20 tires, five refinished 20-inch XC90 Cratus wheels in boxes.

Wow, that is Oklahoma State orange for sure! “Puts on sunglasses”. 😎

I'm stumped on how to remove the lower portion of the mount. Previous Volvo cross bars, the torx bolts were accessible Any ideas on how to get to them on the XC40 bars? Once I get the mounts out of the way I can figure out which color to make the bars. :)
