It's a wide-open field of Volvo sedans competing this year under the brand of the iron symbol. Volvo enthusiasts couldn't be happier with so much to choose from. We're just curious. Is there a team you are most excited about following?

Re: Swedespeed Poll: Which Volvo Racing Team Are You ... ([email protected])

I voted speed world challenge but really any series that has good publicity that volvo is successful in and committed too. It was a hard pill to swallow last year when Volvo dumped Atspeed after only one full year. A pretty lame move in my opinion.

Franke Volvo Racing racked a couple of first place finishes @ Mount Tremblant Quebec over the week-end. This puts the Franke Volvo in the lead for the driver and manufacturer championships.

The link may not work, if not C&P.

Re: (Turbunio)

Turbunio,

"Matejke S40 (SPEED Touring - USA)" is actually a mis-spelling and a misnomer. The company is R Sport Engineering and the team name is Team R Sport. The team website is currently under construction. I will post a link once the site is complete.

Duane Matejka (pronounced: Mah-tee-ka) is well known for his very successful Volvo P1800 run under the Foreign Autotech banner. He has since sold off Foreign Autotech to Mike Dudek at iRoll Motors and is now concetrating his efforts on running the new S40 T5 in SPEED World-Challenge.

Duane wrote articles for VSA documenting the car's build up. Please contact VSA for past issues.

There are currently some final details to sort out with SCCA Pro before the car can be tested and raced. Unfortunately the process is slow going and I apologize for that.

We are very appreciative of all the support from our marketing partners and fans. I would especially like to thank: Evolve Cars, Keystone Motors, AutoScandia, BBS, Personal, Recaro, Flamecrusher, Schroth, ATL, Eibach, Bosch, and of course VCOA. Please support these companies as it helps our effort.

Stay tuned for a formal team announcement.

In the mean time please write to/email Hans Krondahl ([email protected]), Roger Ormisher ([email protected]), and John Maloney ([email protected]) stating your interest in seeing Volvo's race. Volvo's appearing on the grid is going to take a concerted effort from all involved. Lets just say that VCNA and VCC aren't exactly enthusiastic about racing there marque. Help us change their minds.

Re: (dagovna)

dagovna,

The S40 we have was one of the billboard cars. VCNA was going to junk them, but a concerned individual thought that it would make a nice race car.

I believe the Riley Racing S40 was also a billboard car.

While watching the Ohio race, it was great to listen to how surprised the announcers were at how good the S60 was doing.

I would have to say that At speed Motorsports, with their win at Mosport should be moved to the top of that list. Of course, being the crew chief on their S60R, I may be a little biased. Although I have not seen anything from Mateka at the track yet. It would be nice to see more Volvos out there, but you gotta cheer for the teams that are at least making an effort to field a car. I look forward to the progress that is being made on the current S60R. The sister car to the one that raced all of this season is currently on the lift at our shop and is getting prepped for a very serious testing run over the next few months. We hope to sort out what problems still linger from our past and we hope to have our engine program back on track very shortly. The cars are much more reliable than in the first couple years of their existence, however our engines have been turned over to Mahle and they just haven't had enough time to perfect it just yet. When they get that part figured out, the At Speed Volvo S60R will be a force to be reckoned with.

Dead thread but still kinda on topic... Supposedly 3R Racing has taken over the At Speed S60 for the 2008 WC GT season. Testing will be done during the 2007 season. Anyone care to share their input?

You have a link so we can all read up on it?
