I believe one of my shocks on my 855 is leaking and will require replacement shortly. I will obvioulsy replace both sides. I am wondering what the set up is like for the suspension. Is it possible to replace the worn or leaking shock alone, or is it a combo platter type of deal. I previoulsy had a VW which allowed me to replace the shock inserts. Is the Volvo similar to that or does it become a pricey to repalce? I will offer out the normal question as to replacements suggestions. I don't race or drive the car hard, but do enjoy the stock feel, but is there something in the aftermarket that should be considered for the same price range or just a bit more bang for the buck? Keep in mind....this is CDN prices not USD(Beavers, not Eagles).

Personally... I wouldn't mess with only replacing one. The whole idea just doesn't sound good. It should be fine if you replace the shock next to it though. Meaning... replace both rear or both front shocks at the same time, but only replacing one sounds kind of dangerous.

I havn't tried it, but don't recomend it..

I guess I was misunderstood, my original question implied that I would replace both sides meaning left and right, or driver and passenger. I have since gone to the IPD site for an inspection of what the set up looks like. I should have probably referred to strut instead of shock. My VW, I belive had strut and shock combo, which enalbed you to replace the shock insert (tube) which had blown. The volvo system appears to be one unit. I guess this is why I leave this up to the experts and have them fix what is wrong.
