Hey everyone:
I have a suspension question. My car (1998 V70R AWD) has 106,000 miles on it. I am wondering how often should the suspension be upgraded? I have heard that around 100,000 miles it should be thought about. Is this true? Should I be looking to replace my suspension components (i.e. shocks, struts, and springs)?
Also, I have heard that Nivomat shocks can be quite expensive. I have heard about $500... apiece. Is this true?
I am trying to determine if it would be advantageous for me to participate in the KW group buy. I am very interested in it and if the suspension should be replaced anyways, then why not go for it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: Suspension Qeustion. When Should I replace it? (The_one_n_only)

Kai:
I was actually looking at the KW website and it answered my two e-mailed questions. My only concern after seeing thir website is the excesive tire wear on the rear. It seems to me that if I lowered the car 35mm in the front and only 30mm in the rear, the car would have a jacked up look. Not a low sporty look. But if I lower the rear more than the 30mm then I have to buy new control arms that will cost me $600. I can't afford that.
Do you know anything about this?

(thanks for linking me Kai)

Larry,

Personally I don't think you'll have a problem with the look (or the wear) much. 5mm is less than 1/4" so it will be hardly noticable. (or are you as anal as I am when it comes to this? LOL )
are you willing to live with the harsh ride that comes with a lowered car?
some say they can live with the increased performance and be happy, some said it is wayyy too much and hates their car.
unless you want a much harder/tighter ride don't get the coil overs.

If you get the coilovers you can adjust the settings to make it less harsh. I think if you are going to lower your car this is the best option. Believe me, having a lowered Volvo with non adjustable sport shocks sucks.
