Re: Suspension Install Costs? (surfer_bill)

Be a man, do it yourself. I did! It doesnt take that long to do, especially the rears, they are super easy....and the fronts, well..... lets just say that you should be glad others before you have attempted such a procedure and you can learn from their mistakes

DON'T get it done at the dealership. I had mine installed there assuming it couldn't possibly cost more than a couple hundred bucks and in the end I was out $800-$900 for parts and installation.

I've got the parts. Just looking for a ballpark on installation...
As for DIY, with my crazy schedule and lack of suspension know how, I'd rather pay a professional to do the job.

Re: (surfer_bill)

I agree with Tarheedvolvo. I did it with a good friend of mine WITHOUT spring compressors, although it wouldve been nice and I wouldnt have to be up 4 in the morning. From the help of my friend he says its easier to change out than a civic... A CIVIC... A FREAKING CIVIC!!! Also it is more fulfilling work to do it yourself IMO.

Re: (bopmychimbeech)

ok. I'll ask one more time, since I'm not interested in doing this myself.
(and the post linked above contained info on a $500 spring install for an R, and a $300 estimate based on some rough numbers that were never verified)
How much (labor only, plus alignment?) have people paid for the installation of springs on their V50/S40 AWD?
I know there are a few people on here with the exact same setup I'll be running (V50 AWD with Heico springs)
Thanks

If a 20 year old girl can do this (without braking a nail ) then you should try this yourself. no alignment is needed with the heico springs, only a 1.3 " lowering, you'll need a spring compressor , you can get this at summit racing or jc whitney for like $14-$20 . the rest is a piece of cake, but if you are lazy, machanically totally not inclined and/or just rather have a shop do it. this shouldn't cost more than $150 -$200 to install tops. stay away from Vovlo, they'll instal Vovlo parts for a premium but any other part ?? you're just asking for warrenty trouble .

Re: (Volvo_girl)

Or you can rent the spring compressor from like Autozone or AAP for the day and as long as you return it then they give you your money back minus like $3 for the rental fee. Its a pretty nice one that would normally cost like $80-90 if you were to buy it youself.
You can do this!
and if you need help then just call/IM me and ill walk ya through it (email me if you want my phone #)
