I brought my 4 month old XC90 for a couple of recalls and brake squeaking...no big deal, i think these are pretty minor issues...i like the car so far. As a loaner, i received a 2016 xc70.

The surprising thing was that i felt the xc70 to be much more solid than the xc90. It drove and just seemed like what i always pictured a Volvo to be. Again, nothing against the xc90, but it just isn't as solid IMO as the xc70. Im actually thinking of trying to trade back the xc90 if they have any left over xc70s.

Anyone have the same experience, or gone from an xc70 to xc90?

We also tend to get the XC70's as service loaners as well and like them a lot. I think they end up in loaner service because in the last year of their production they aren't selling very well. We did test drive one when we got our XC60 last year but for similar money the XC60 seemed like a better fit for us. The one thing that stuck in my mind is that the BLIS system on the XC70 has not been updated and is the old school camera-based system and tends to not be as reliable as the newer version and does not offer cross traffic alert, which is one feature I really like. I think it is the last model that still offers the 5 cylinder motor in AWD configuration. If you decide to get one you can probably drive a pretty good deal at this point.

We also have a 2004 XC70 and still like it very much.
But we didn't find the XC90 to feel less solid during the test drive that we made (with a T5).
Perhaps it felt somewhat different as Volvo's always used to feel, but by no means in a negative way.
