super hot HOVC surface, normal??

I notice that the surface area around driver side climate control knob gets very hot after driving for a little while, even when the AC isn't on. It's not hot enough to burn my skin, but I'd say it's at least 140F.
Has anyone noticed that? or is there something else wrong with my car?

I think the turbo sits right behind the driver side temp control knob.
Just kidding.
I have never noticed it, but will try and burn myself later.

an LED has < 2.5V drop and typ no more than 50 mA. That is 1/8W so not likely to make much heat.

Our XC90 does this too. Turn it off and the panel stays cool.
Tom.

Where in Maine? I'm driving to Camden Maine this weekend, although I'll be in the XC90.

A mouthful, that.
