So for the longest time my front windshield defroster on the drivers side has been flopping up and down, one of the clips broke off that keeps it in place. So I figured easy fix, just super glue it down, what could possibly go wrong?

Well now I have a little streak of super glue that is on the leatherish part of the dashboard, and it really isn't that big of a deal, but I notice it, and it bugs me. I've heard of acetone, nailpolish remover (which is acetone), and isopropyl alcohol but some claim that it removes the finish of certain fabrics. If I use isopropyl alcohol (the weakest of the three mentioned) will it remove the black finish on the pleather?

I used a very very very small amount to remove super glue off my leather couch, it did the trick buy I used a ver small amount on a cotton swab. You might also want to try waterbased Goof Off instead. There's no going back if you mess up your dash leather.

Believe me I know, I used goof off on my last S60's dashboard which was light tan, after vigorously scrubbing it (stupid i know) the leather was slightly discolored and it didn't even remove the glue!!

tried isopropyl, it worked on a small spot of glue on the plastic end of the defroster but it didn't work on the glue stuck to the leather. It started to discolor it very very slightly so I stopped trying. Soap and water didn't work either, i'm probably just going to live with it since it's such a small streak and isn't even visible when driving.

if you get it off, you can use leather dye... You could get it matched at an interior shop, if it's a small shop it would probably be very cheap.

Or just bring it to an interior shop and they'll probably have something.

If you go yo a (good) hobby shop, they will have something called Z7 debonder, by zap products. Its the best debonder ive used. It has some acetone, but its in more of a gel, sot it stays in place a little better.
Ive never had it discolor stuff, although i havent tried it on leather. Id get it and try it on a small area first to see how it works.

I'll pick some up this week and try it, thanks for the suggestion!
