I have not decided whether to download the SUM Rev4 or not. I have springs and rear sway installed but the sidehop is still kind of annoying.
What is your experience with Rev4 VS Rev2, is it better for sidehop control?
I understand that Rev4 is softer, does that apply for all 3 settings?
All help is appreciated, thanks.

Re: SUM Upgrade REV 4: Better for sidehop control? (MagoonR)

i dont know what rev my 06 R has but when i put it in sport mode its 90-95% gone. in comfort its actualy hard to drive sometimes going over the manholes and road imperfections. i might get to the point that i drive in advanced all the time just to get rid of the sidehop. i dont understand why a suspension thats supposed to be this good has an issue this bad.
but i would think if people say the rev 3-4 are softer that it may not help because to me softer = more sidehop. i wish someone knew the tech details of what the rev. specificaly fix.

I have been updated to Rev4 with the bushing upgrade also. It made my sidehop worse.
I'm running Michelin Pilot Sport A/S's.
It is softer. I would actually characterise it as less controlled, more buick like. More wallow to it.
Not happy with it at all.

With the Eibach springs I think the latest greatest version is better.

I drive an '04 with the original SUM installed when I purchased car in Januarly, 2004 (SUM 2 - I think). I did not like the reviews for SUM 3 and 4. I do not have significany sidehopping issues. What is recommended to offer any handling improvements?

Re: (R_Rated)

I have the rev 3 (2005) for a 04 R. That paired with Kunho ASX's eliminated the rear end side hop. I still felt the front end was a little sloppy. I put in the black Evolve engine mount bushing paired with the IPD upper engine mount bushings and the VST strut brace. That is a very nice combo to tighten the front end up. No more unpredictable floating when going over bumps and much better feel in the wheel. Kinda reminds me of a 99 M3 I once owned but with a more comfortable overall feel. (Less harsh than the M3). Sways go in a couple of weeks from now, that will give me the total feel I have been looking for. I have to get rid of the frame twisting in the cornes and have been told that the track spec bars from IPD will do exactly that.

Re: (Mash)

Eliminated...
I don't think you will ever get 100% rid of it. Maybe a certain setup will suit the area you live in.
My S60R, june '03, still had the first revision of the software. After installing the Eibachs I drove with this setup for about a week or so but it gave the same impressions as it did with the V70R in the beginning, way to overractive shock behavior. With the latest version of the SUM software the ride is better. I think you guys say better composed?

Re: (Johann)

Advanced is more usable with Rev. 4. I could hardly drive anywhere with Advanced with the original SUM. There is more sidehop however.

I have a 2004 V70R with Evolve springs. Rev 4 and the bushing "fix" didn't help my side hop at all. I wish I still had the firmer settings of Rev 2 available.
Tightening the loose rear accelerometer did help my side hop some.

Sorry I can't be more specific but that seemed to be the opinions based on wen the updates were released. My car was built in 10/2003 so Rev2 for me....and no bushing update.

My S60 NA also had the sidehop. It is inherent in the S60 chassis. If you want to completely eliminate it, go buy a 3-series.
