My daughter has a 2007 S60. I was thinking about getting her an IPOD connection to the Volvo stereo and a remote starter for Christmas.

I checked the IPD website and did not find either for this car.

Any input on which system to purchase or avoid would be appreciated.

Check out the iMIV from sensolutions: http://www.imiv.ca for an excellent iPod solution.

They offer packages for P2 S60s with and without factory navigation. If you have factory NAV, you can integrate iPod video playback through the NAV screen.

"The iMIV Light Edition, or LE is a result of putting the original iMIV on a diet. Featuring the same awesome audio quality as the iMIV Classic but without video support or an auxiliary input, it is sure not to disappoint. Advanced features such as radio and steering wheel control of the iPod/iPhone make the iMIV LE the best and lowest cost solution for seamlessly integrating an iPod or iPhone into your Volvo."

You can review the history of the product and how it evolved right here in the swedespeed thread here:

I have the USAspec iPod adapter and love it, and everything works with my iPhone 5. I bought mine from crutchfield and my only complaint is that that you cannot change the default settings so that manual control of the iPod is default.

As for the remote car starter of talk with a reputable car audio shop in your area about an install, I haven't really looked into it much but from what I know the install can be a bit tedious.

Actually they decided to stop making the classic altogether, so there is no more video option at all. Only the iMIV LE will be available in the future, they are currently redesigning it again, so it is currently not available in time for xmas.

You can pick up the Volvo OEM iPod adapter from Erie Vovo though.

Now I am thinking about replacing the Volvo stereo altogether. The IPOD connection unit is not cheap. A replacement from Kenwood, Pioneeer, etc would do a lot more. It would cost a bit more, but it really would be nice to connect to the IPOD and have a DVD player, backup screen, ability to connect to IPOD for navigation. Please see the following example:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pioneer-AVH-P3400BH-5-8-In-Dash-Touchscreen-HD-DVD-USB-Car-Stereo-Backup-Camera-/350657922409?pt=US_Video_In_Dash_Units_w_o_GPS&hash=item51a4d74569&vxp=mtr

I have read that they have adapters to connect to the existing wiring and can also use the steering wheel controls.

I'd really appreciate input from someone else that has done this. Does an aftermarket unit look ok after it is installed? What am I not considering that would make this a bad idea?
